End of the road for the bad man

Post by bennie »

Tony Ayala Jr. is in trouble with the law again. The San Antonio bad boy was arrested last Saturday after he was caught speeding in his car. Officers searched his car and found several pornographic magazines and used hypodermic syringes.
He was also driving without a licence and insurance.
Ayala was asked to submit a drug test after his arrest - and again on Tuesday, but refused both times.
When asked why he refused, Assistant District Attorney Susan Skinner said Ayala told his probation officer he had been using heroin.
"We have filed a motion to revoke his probation," Skinner added. His probation stems from an October 2001 conviction for burglary with intent to commit aggravated assault - a reduced charge to which Ayala pleaded guilty. In the incident, Ayala suffered a gunshot wound to his shoulder when shot by a woman. The 41-year-old had previously served 17 years in jail for raping a New Jersey woman in 1983. 'El Torito', just 19 at the time, later acknowledged he was high on heroin and alcohol at the time of the offence.
He was sentenced to 35 years in prison but paroled and released in April 1999, and resumed his boxing career, only to see it founder with his first pro loss to Yory Boy Campas in 2000.
Ayala's lawyers emphasized he has been unable to go anywhere unnoticed in San Antonio, where he lives with his parents.
"Everywhere he goes, he becomes an issue," one said. "The probation office gets calls when Tony is out eating."

damn, what a waste of talent.

You know he was thought by many as capable of beating the likes of Leonard, Hearns, Duran etc...and he blew it away. And still hasn't learnt his lesson by the looks of things.
