Hopkins - Calzaghe 2 will it happen?
Re: Hopkins - Calzaghe 2 will it happen?
Bernard was on Friday Night Fights last week stating that he would fight Adamek next. :(
I would like a rematch in Cardiff. But I don't think it will happen. Joe wants that 0 too much.

I personally would like Hopkins to get a re-match, because i think he deserves it and i had him winning the last fight by a round. But Clazaghe will remain retired IMO, because he knows deep down, that Hopkins had the measure of him and only lost because he tired in the second half of the fight, due to him being 43 years of age at the time. Calzaghe knows that if he was'nt 100% Hopkins is well capable of beating him and in doing so, Clazage would risk losing his hard earned legacy.
Re: Hopkins - Calzaghe 2 will it happen?
I want to see it, but it won't happen. FYI, I had Hopkins winning the first fight by one or tow points.

I agree that he probably deserves a re-match due to how close the fight was, but I want Joe to re-match him to see him beat him more convincingly, that then will leave no doubt over the first fight result. I think Joe can do it too.
I'm not sure it is Hopkins age that made him tire though, I don't think he's ever been in a fight of the pace that Joe sets, and I've also never seen a JC foe who is not tired by the end. Hopkins is superbly fit.
I think a re-match would make for a much better fight, BHop knows he'd have to take the fight to Joe a little more (especially in Cardiff) and Joe won't underestimate him so much. Let's get it on I say!

Theres no way Hopkins won the first fight, he only won 3 rounds and cried/fouled through the majority of the fight. People only moan if someone like Ruiz does it though.
Joe will smash him easier in a rematch.
I knew he would Pavlik because Pavlik's just a limited boxer with the midwest mentality they have in the states.

I can't see it happening myself, which is a shame as I think JC would beat him more convincingly this time. As many people have stated before, B-Hop had the perfect plan to defeat Calzaghe but couldn't pull it off as he ran out of gas. If he was to fight more offensively he would be playing right into Joe's hands.

Think Hopkins beats him in a rematch - he underestimated Calzaghe I think. I think Hopkins can raise him game judging by the Pavlik performance.
Re: Hopkins - Calzaghe 2 will it happen?
Joe is at his best against fighters who come to him like Lacy or Kessler(he'd have mullered Pavlik too) but Joe had to go looking for Hopkins and Hopkins tried every trick in the book to spoil Joes rhythm.
Rematch would be the same in my opinion, boring as hell and being left feeling suicidal at the end of it.

I would like it to happen, I am in the minority here - but I didn't fall asleep in the first fight. I thought it was interesting actually, I quite enjoyed it.... and I do think there is unfinished business there, the more I watch it, the more convinced I am Bhop won.

Not really fussed with it - Calzaghe was a clear enough winner in my opinion, and I disagree with Bunce when he says something was up with Hopkins that night.

I can't see how Hopkins didn't win the first fight, they should have a rematch but Calzaghe won't risk it.

I think Joe won by a couple of rounds but the very fact it was so closely contested means a rematch would be a viable option.
Joe should have ended his career in Cardiff imo and how he can say that there is no-one left thats big enough name to fight is beyond me after ten years of mandatories.
Get it on - great fight and if he kept ticket prices low, it would be a thank you to the fans.
Unfortunately it wont happen though, Joe wont take the risk of coming back and losing

Re: Hopkins - Calzaghe 2 will it happen?
Like people have alluded to already, Joe's scared shitless of losing that fit, fat zero. This fight would've happened IMO if Pavlik beat Hopkins or even stopped him. That aggressive performance by B-Hop has scared him shitless I feel.

Calzaghe did have a stinker, by his comparison to how he normally is, but i don't know whether that was down to an off-night or Hopkins himself. Hopkins would be very fit for every fight and for sure, Calzaghe sets an unbelivable pace, but i still think that part of the reason that Hopkin's tired, was due to his age
Re: Hopkins - Calzaghe 2 will it happen?
I would like to see a rematch in cardif so calzaghe can domminate, i think bernard is still mad he got done by a white boy.

I can't believe anyone had Hopkins winning that fight. Low punch volume, negative back foot fighting and at times unsporting behaviour. While he landed cleanly at times and had the knockdown, his workrate decreased significantly as the fight progressed.
Re: Hopkins - Calzaghe 2 will it happen?
Joe will always duck Hopkins now.
See the way Joe reacted every time Hopkins name was mentioned or still is mentioned?
He always throws a fit and a tantrum lol. I guess he can't cope with the fact he barely survived against a 43 year old.

Many can't believe anyone had Joe winning that fight. Inclusing ESPN Sports, Associated Press and Yahoo SportsI can't believe anyone had Hopkins winning that fight.

Re: Hopkins - Calzaghe 2 will it happen?
Joe walked into Hopkins back yard and beat him, nuff said. I find it amazing that people say Hopkins loses because he ran out of gas. That is maybe the case but I wonder why that was. Eerm, perhaps it was because he was on his toes all night, eerm, perhaps its because he was getting slapped around a bit. It annoys the shit out of me that the other bloke in the ring gets no credit for this.
Hopkins doesn;t deserve a rematch, from his racist remarks pre fight, to his petulant attitude post fight and the way he cheated late going for the Oscar because of a low blow.
Bollocks.
