Sad to say that, Barrera is one of my favourites.
Exactly as I envisage it.

I will be made up for Marco if he wins, though. I've liked him ever since he beat Eddie Croft (on Eurosport, I think), which feels like it was about fifty years ago.

barrera in the 4th rd.

barrera will keep it tight and look for those heavy counters.

khan likes to flurry and i think that will play into the hands of barrera.

who won't be too bothered by khan's power.

barrera too strong and hits too hard.

I'm undecided :D

I keep getting visions of Khan's hand speed giving a faded Barrera lots of problems, but then i wonder how Khan will react if Barrera backs him up and catches him with a few flurries. This fight all depends on a question that we don't yet know and that is how shot is Barrera. If Barerra is 20% of what he used to be, then i would say that was enough to beat Khan, but after watching a video of his last fight, Barrera looked slow, ponderous, out of shape, lacked any real speed and precision with his punches and looked 50% of the fighter that fought Naz. If the latter version of Barrera turns up, instead of the former, then i think that Khan will get a technical knock out around the 8th or 9th rounds.

Very diffficult this one 8)

I think this is purely a case of how much Barrera has left.......due to his inactivity, this is very hard to gauge.....but when you consider the trouble a shot Michael Gomez had Khan in.....Barrera would have had to fallen a lot for him not to take advantage of Khan's weaknesses, even if some may have been ironed out by Roach.......i think if Barrera is capable of applying sustained pressure, he'll find the holes.....he'll find the chin.....and Roach, whilst being a very good trainer, isn't a miracle worker

I'm going in with the assumption the Barrera has prepared properly, and a vague estimation of how far his powers have waned.....all that considered.....i think Barrera stops him within 7

....i still think it is a mad fight to take.....because the only way i can see Khan winning would be a way that would suggest more of a deterioration in Barrera than an improvement in Khan....so if this gamble pays off....don't expect a too much credit coming his way......and if the idea is to get Khan nearer a world title shot, then god help him on last weekend's evidence

Barrera by late KO after weathering an early storm from Khan. I'd like to see Khan pull this one off, but can't imagine MAB not being able to use all his experience to survive Khans speed, get in range and tag him.
Despite my dislike for Fwank, I agree with others that this could b the best timed match making.

I think if khan is confident he will go in and force the ref to stop it with barrera on the ropes

I see this as a total miss match. Sort of how like Juuko and Gomez got on. Barreras too worn, too old and too small.

I can see a barrage of shots by Khan finishing Barrera just like the Jones fight back in the day.

I dont know why Barrera would want this fight, has he not got enough in the bank?

I think that a Barrera who has more than 70% left beats Khan - he is too adaptable and skilled and is leagues above anybody that Khan has faced. If anybody can exploit Khan's technical deficiencies then Barrera can, IF he isn't shot.

A Barrera with less than this gets outpointed IMO in a similar fashion to Pacquiao 2. I am leaning towards this scenario, perhaps more with my heart than my head.

I think Barrera will have too much know how and would make Khan look a fool.

Although secretly I'm hoping for a Khan win :)

Damn!!! Secret's out :x

OK we all know Barrera is not what he was and gives away size and age advantage to Khan but he does have advantages of his own, namely experiance and a lethal punch. Michael Gomez who cannot be compared to Barrera, had Khan in trouble with punch power and Willie Limmond not known as a hard hitter also had Khan over. Many thought Gomez was shot to shit yet he gave Khan quite a battle causing people to think Khan would never make it to the top. Most thought the fight would be one sided and would be an easy night for Khan, but it didnt work out that way. Even if Barrera isnt what he was wouldnt you expect him to do better than Gomez or Limond, I would. We know after the Prescott experiance Khan will be more cautious so I expect him to do well in the first few rounds, but I can see him full of confidence going in with a flurry mid fight and getting caught. Barrera is great with body punches that Khan finds hard to soak up and we know he cant take head or jaw punches. For me Barrera wins by KO with Khan ahead on points. Another miscalculation by Warren or is he fed up with shelling out big money to Khan, now he has his new signings. Maybe he thinks its make or break time for Khan. We know Barrera is a legend but I think it will be a major setback for Khan if he loses.

Khan to overwhelm MAB with size, reach, pressure and speed. 1 thing people discount is the pressure/pace Khan will put MAB under and MAB does not like pressure anymore and he was small and weak at 130. He never liked speed and yes Khan is raw but so was Pacquaio against MAB 5years ago and 126 if truth be told. Its also been 2years since hes mixed in any kind of class

I can certainly see the argument that MAB takes Khan apart because of his and it may well happen, I'm a massive MAB fan and would like to see him a 4weight champ, but the end of the line may have come

yep. :TU:

barrera will win.

speed has given marco problems in the past.

junior jones had a dodgy chin and beat barrera.

but he was world class at that time and was better at keeping it long than khan is. :box:

Have to go with Khan for a stoppage victory before round 6. Too much power, size and speed. Barrerra is not a ightweight, never has been never was. Khan is big for the weight.

Have to go with Barrera win by mid round TKO i think Khan will have his moments early on and then the experience of Barrera will kick in and the referee will save Khan in the 4th. Just cant see how Khan after being hurt by so many past opponents can get past Barrera who i dont feel is shot at all.

Barrera lost his last two competitive fights (18 and 24 months ago) by pretty wide decisions and I think claims that he is at least partly shot are justified.

The main issue here will be the weight. Barrera has done nothing at lightweight and will not have much power at the weight. Khan should stop him IMO.

Anybody know what is happening with Anthony Peterson?? He has not fought since last August. Not exactly keeping active for a highly touted prospect.

Don't mean to derail the thread but what is also interesting to me is that Hatton's mate Marco Antonio Barrera is taking on Roach's new boy -- Amir Khan -- a few weeks before Ricky & Pacquiao get down to business.

Psychological mind-games will be a go-go at the Khan-Barrera fight -- I wouldn't be at all surprised to see Ricky in Marco's entourage & Manny chipping in a few words in praise of Amir.

It's all good stuff, isn't it?

Barerra by KO. I think he's still cagey and smart enough to take Amir out of his gameplan and hurt him late. KO for Marco anytime after round 10.

I'm sticking with my original gut feeling and going with a Khan UD, but without a great deal of confidence. Excellent fight, really looking forward to it :box:
