Why is the Khan MAB fight a WBO eliminator ? degrem

Post by Finch »

What has Khan done to justify this ?

Surely Prescott would be a more worth candidate for a WBO title shot ?

It also said that on the Daily Mirror (... not that it's a reliable source!).

SN have always had a good relationship with the WBO ... and Barrera has a large money generating reputation to make it worthwhile making him a mandatory if he does win ... I Can`t see Warren putting Khan into face marquez anytime soon, prob hoping he vacates.

Marquez 'Ah me say Soooopa Doooopa..eh! Khan Vs MAB Title?

Post by DG. »

The Executive Board of the World Boxing Organization, pursuant to the recommendation of the WBO World Championship Committee, has named Juan Manual Marquez as a WBO super champion pursuant to Article 14 of the WBO regulations. The move will allow Marquez additional scheduling flexibility to achieve his place in boxing history and for the good of the sport. The vote was unanimous.

Lets have a vacant WBO title shot for Khan!

The world has gone man!

I bet its Khan Vs Barrera for the vacant title!

I seem to remember this being a rumour started by Mr Lillis in the Mirror, which Bunce said wasn't true?

Apologies if this is untrue Steve(s).

Can't see another thread. Am I blind?

ah you enjoyed my "get some nuts" pic last week? :TU:

Well on your subject stranger things have happened as regards vacant title shot. For me it makes a bit of a mockery altering things on this scale 5 days before the fight. Then again I asked last week why they were boxing over the championship distance when it was not for any championship. At least my assumption is that it's a 12 round fight? (sorry, a SCHEDULED 12 round fight)

Good luck in the division 4 prediction league scrap btw :TU:

Qoute from Hatton " amir has gone to PPV too soon he will have to fight the best on the LW division. " so khan will have to face Diazs ,marquez etc...in the future.

Can't see Khan fighting Marquez if he beats Barrera, more likely Marquez vacates for bigger paydays and Khan fights for the vacant.

The WBO regular title is vacant!

fear not, the WBO doesn't have a "super" and "regular" title like the WBA does... yet. Their super champion just means less mandatories for their champions. Joe Calzaghe was a super champion, so was Acelino Freitas at super featherweight, the most they can do is make Kahn Barrera for an interim title.

I thought the WBOgus only made 'Super' champs after 10 defences? That was how it used to be. Then they got a nice blue ocean bit on the world of their belt to make it look different to WBO normal belts.

They make this shit up as they go along!
