The former European champ on why he's carrying on in boxing and why he thinks he lost to Mezaache. All feedback, as always, is appreciated.

Good one! :TU:

BUT..whats this about!

So do you feel the gumshield situation was an injustice?

I don't know. I didn't realise until someone told me and then it all started coming back. I remember being really close to him when he spat it out. [Trainer] Graham Everett said I should have just knocked him out but I think the referee was between us.

But the EBU are very fair – with me being the champ and the fight being in Norwich I thought I'd done enough.

But not according to the three – or should I say four [laughs] people that mattered.

Very fair? If you win you win, all this 'because I am the champ' is part of what is wrong with boxing.

You either deserve to win or you don't!

Good on him i think knocking him down is the worst thing that happened in that fight for Thaxton, because he went wild and tired himself out i think if he didnt knock him down he wouldnt of got so exited and probably tried to box him

I think Thaxton was very unlucky, thought a draw was fair at worst, but he also fought a very very poor fight.

After the knockdown he rarely threw more than single shots, and just tried to take the guy's head off, which played right into his hands.

Thaxton will need to fight a lot smarter in the rematch, but I do feel he deserves one, albeit away from home seeing as the guy travelled to his back yard last time out.

I like Jono but he didnt do it right. He missed most of the time and punching air takes it out of you. He always looks for the big one, so knock down or not, that was his gameplan anyway. The gumshield incident was blatant and bought the opponent valuable time to recover. Didnt it cost him a point? Close fight you could call it either way really. I thought Jono just nicked it and being the champ he should of retained the title.

Can't see there being a rematch just yet, to be honest.

If anything, I'd say the French fighter would win a rematch more comfrotably than the first.

He deserves an immediate rematch. Thaxton was unlucky to have the decision go against him IMO, and the gumshield incident was blatent cheating in my view, so I feel he can count himself hard done by overall.

No doubt Hennessy will be trying to persuade the EBU to mandate Thaxton, becuase the Frechman's camp didn't look in the least bit interested in going through it again.
