During a meeting in Kiev, Ukraine, eight regional boxing organizations agreed upon the creation of a new world body, called Federated Council of Boxing. The eight regional organizations, amongst them the powerful European Boxing Union, have always been linked to the WBC. The Federated Council of Boxing will be registered as a non-profit organization next week in Switzerland.

Actually, this is quite an interesting development but I simply have to open another bottle before I even think about yet another organisation.

If they are non-profit, good. If the EBU are getting in with them, this means the WBC could really be going to the wall.

just hope they have some good rankings and remain non-profit. But for them to be a real success, the boxers will have to get behind them, and recognise their belt. It's unlikely.

The NABF is a long-time affiliate of the WBC. Can't say anything about the OPBF, except that you're likely to find them in a large bowl of alphabet soup, as well.

I wonder if the FCB will automatically bestow their title on the current WBC titlists, and if the latter will accept the name change?

Also, does this mean that we'd be getting *rid* of 8 or 9 crap sanctioning orgs and rolling them all into just one really big crap sanctioning body? Anything along those lines would be welcome, but I fear it sounds just a bit too goodvto be true. Sounds like the WBC is simply reorganizing under a new name, after which it'll be business as usual.

The non-profit thing is actually quite clever, because I suspect it would make them (at least largely) immune from lawsuits. And don't let the "non-profit" title fool you - AFAIK non-profits have no limits on how much they pay their employees. You can get quite rich running a non-profit if it brings in enough cash and the "donors" don't complain about how much of the money is going to enrich the folks running the organization.

Yes Erik, it's a minefield. Anything that is based in Switzerland is also dodgy as fornicate, let me tell you.

The Americas equivalent is the Cayman Islands. I know, I used to live there.

I believe both the NABF and OPBF (Oceanic Pacific board) WERE down with the WBC and now are with these guys.

The more I think about it...welcome to the new WBC gentlemen.

If I remember correctly there are 9 or 10 regional sanction bodies under WBC and its probably 8 of them that are forming FBC. As I recall WBC is/was also a non-profit org.

You got it Soren. It's crazy, but at the moment there probably are less than 100 people who know the way that this is going to end up...at least we were there.

BTW anyone who can tell me different, come correct!

Welcome you must be jokeing,i hope they folded very quickly. Boxing does not need any more of these cancers on the sport there all jokes and i wish they would al disappear of the sake of this great sport.
