Football has the (world cup)
Tennis has (wimbledon)
Rugby the (4nations) Could boxing benifitt from an annual tournament that the public could get behind and talk about? a bit like a professional ABA's? SOMTHING NEEDS TO CHANGE!

Boxing needs big fights, that's all.

One a month on Sky is all it would take. Instead we get 4 a month with garbage fighters.

It's good that boxing doesn't have any tournements, makes it different to other sports that wait around for the big tournement to happen. Big fights can potentially happen at any point, and as often as possible. The problem is gettin the boxers together.

But in terms of the ultimate prize, boxing has that in the shape of the 'Undisputed' crown which is only achieved by the very best.

The boxers are partly to blame, as are promoters and tv companies. If you can't sell tickets, then it's a hard sport.

Yes Dale, I fully agree with you. With the likes of football etc when a country wins the world cup, it means "The World". As in, they are true world champions. With so many fringe and non meaningful titles in boxing, a series like this would help create a "true" world champion, even for regions of the world and on home soil, a true British champion.

I often thought this myself, but I feel boxing is too far gone and too much into an era now a days of lots of titles, and lots of people claiming to be world champion.

The years are gone now, when a fighter who held the British title was regarded as the best in Britian at that weight. Now a days, that may not be the case with the fringe titles around and many fighter going down that route, a British champion may not be the best in Britian.

Nice to see this point raised by an active professional like yourself Dale. I know you fought for the IBO title and great fight too Dale. In your heart of hearts would you be more proud being a holder of an IBO world title belt or if it was the case claiming a Lonsdale belt outright and being regarded as the British number one and then making a climb up the European and world rankings etc?

Its hard to believe Nigel Benn was in wars with the BBBC over his status as the WBO world middleweight champion, when now a days there are more so called world title fights from the likes of the IBO, WBU and WBF than any of the others. I take nothing away from the boxers, I just hate to see these titles down grade the meaning of being a world champion boxer over money.

Belts are an important part of boxing, I'm sure every boxer wants to be a champion. I think if their belt had a true meaning, think about how much more proud they would be to hold it and the fans would really know what the status of the holder really was.

Anyway, I'm off to New York tomorrow on holiday. Will tour the boxing sites and maybe see Danny Williams, Takaloo and Steve Murray training when I'm a gym rat for a few days!!

Great to see Dale. Look forward to talking with you more when I get back in two weeks.

I've enjoyed your career so far mate, keep up the hard work and achieve your dreams.

I think a lot of young boxers should take in what the old champions from past era's said and how they trained etc. Do you ever watch old footage of past champions from your weight and others?

Have you ever trained out in the States Dale or plan too? ....I think that is a great move for any boxer.

it will never happen,all boxing needs is for the tv companies to demand the fights fans won't or there is no money for the fighter and promoters and get rid of some of these ABC boys the Cable tv companies could in a heart beat if they won'ted to
