A wolf in sheep's clothing remains a wolf. I'm a die-hard Jones fan (or was, pre-roid revalations, which took some of the shine off :( ) but in no way, shape or form does he represent a legitimate Heavyweight.
Having one bout at a certain weight can't qualify you, surely...?

Not that they classify as the best...
but I like Kelvin Davis and was always interested
in watching Jesse McGhee. But are very short and
have mixed it up with big and heavy men.

Such is the new face of what passes as boxing experts.
Anyway, Old Chocolate George Godfrey, Sam McVea and Joe Jeannette were around 5-10/5-11 respectively. Someone listed Langford as 5-8 which may be his boxrec height, but pics I've seen put him more in the 5-6 range, just incredible to compete at heavy at that height.
Joe Walcott fought many heavies at 5-1 or so. One was the 255lb Fred Russell whom he drew with and even knocked down. I can't even imagine the damage done to Mr. Russell's reputation.

interested to hear exactly how you estimate height from looking at photographs.
was langford, perchance, conveniently standing next to one of those Police charts in the photos you have seen?

- Not even fat chance. There was a photo promoting the upcoming fight with Bill Tate and Sam taken at a hotel. Tate usually listed at 6-6 has at least a foot on him, maybe 15".Counter-puncher wrote: was langford, perchance, conveniently standing next to one of those Police charts in the photos you have seen?
Clay Moyle's bio says he was "no more than 5-7," an indication he could quite probably be less. You tell me:
