Who next for Rendall Munroe ?
After his quite convincing win over Kiko again, will it be the winner of Dunne vs Cordoba or is there anyone else on the radar ?
According to the local paper he could fight at the walkers stadium for a World title.
Also does anybody give Rendall a chance in a world title fight ? obviously depending on who the opponent would be.
If somehow Dunne beat Cordoba i would have Munroe favourite to beat Dunne by UD .

Re: Who next for Rendall Munroe ?
I think he should maybe try someone like Daniel Ponce de Leon but maybe hes not ready for that level yet
Re: Who next for Rendall Munroe ?
He should fight the winner of Marsh vs Moran for the British title.
Re: Who next for Rendall Munroe ?
Dunne is alot better than Munroe even though they have similar styles and Dunne would take a wide UDmark thompson wrote:

Re: Who next for Rendall Munroe ?
I think he should be looking at the winner of Dunne vs Cordoba yeh. He should try a least to step upto world level while he has the momentum and the euro belt which he has now defended a fair few times.
His rating should be fairly high now off the euro defences so why not give it a go. To go back to british title level would be silly now cos if he slips up all that good work is gone down the shitter.
So yeh I think they should be looking at stepping up to world level, personally I can see him just falling short, but you have to give it a crack or he'll never know!

It's not really a step forward but if as i'd expect he beat the winner of Marsh-Moran having the British title would be a good move. However i doubt he'd stick at domestic level long enough to win it out right as i'd expect him to want to move onwards and upwards. How about an International title.Horse wrote:He should fight the winner of Marsh vs Moran for the British title.

If he loses at British level then what chance does he have at World level? It wouldn't really be going back a level anyway as Marsh is most likely better than most of the fighters he has been defending his European title against.TheCobra wrote:His rating should be fairly high now off the euro defences so why not give it a go. He could defend it against Hunter, but that would be about it.El Raincoat wrote:It's not really a step forward but if as i'd expect he beat the winner of Marsh-Moran having the British title would be a good move. Who has Dunne beat to prove that point ?
Re: Who next for Rendall Munroe ?
martinez whoops Dunne, then Munroe comprehensively kicks Kiko's arse not once but twice, I know it doesnt always pan out like this but it doesnt point towards Dunne being better does it?
If anything the other way round.

I agree the european title has way more prestige, i'm just thinking that would give him an opportunity to fight fighters from America, South America & Asia too. No harm in having both. He's cleaning out Europe at the moment.
Maybe Zsolt Bedak down the road. I have spoekn with him just prior to his fight on Saturday. The Q&A is on the main board.
Re: Who next for Rendall Munroe ?
Based on Dunne's level of competion compared to Munroe's? Dunne has beat Yuri Veronin, Esham Pickering, David Martinez, to name but a few who are of a much higher standard than Munroe's opposition so far.Twinkle Toes wrote:Based on what?brian13 wrote:

Based on pure boxing skill and talent.
Dunne was highly regarded even as an amateur and was picked by a lot of people in the know as a future world champion, now this was not because of where he came from but because he had and still does have a lot going for him, getting caught cold by Kiko Martinez does not change this.
Why does everyone assume that posters who favour Dunne over Munroe are only saying it because of where they come from?
Most people on this forum would not give a bollox about Munroe if he was not English so stop being hypocritical (you know who you are!)
As to where Munroe is going, his manager says that he is in no rush to fight for a world title and he already turned down the only real threat at European level so maybe he needs to put his career in the hands of a manager who is not afraid to match him up with decent opposition cos Maloney does not seem to have too much confidence in him.

Re: Who next for Rendall Munroe ?
I love to see Dunne win his 'world title' would set up a great fight with Monroe.
If that doesn't happen then maybe a fight with the new filipino star Balweg Bangoyan for the WBC international title.

Re: Who next for Rendall Munroe ?
Out of interest, what have Voronin or David Martinez done (besides lose to every decent fighter they've fought) to elevate them above Munroe's two wins over Kiko? The name that stands out on Dunne's record is Pickering. He's faded badly since, and from memory had been inactive before the Dunne fight, but that's 20/20 hindsight talking I suppose.
I like Dunne, and would pick him over Munroe, but it's worth noting that he's been a star since he turned over, with the best support team available no doubt, while Rendall is still emptying bins Monday-Friday. Dunne is the better boxer imo, but I'd still like to find out who is the better fighter, and I wouldn't write Munroe off before a punch has been thrown as some people seem to have.

Re: Who next for Rendall Munroe ?
Are you trying to say that Martinez is a better boxer than Veronin or David Martinez? Martinez is a one dimensional fighter, his win over Dunne is overrated by Munroe's fans.mickeyb wrote:Out of interest, what have Voronin or David Martinez done (besides lose to every decent fighter they've fought) to elevate them above Munroe's two wins over Kiko? The whole Pickering is shot argument is invalid, he was far from shot when he fought Dunne.
No one is writing Munroe off, if you read most opinions on here, it is Dunne who is being written off because of one defeat!
The way some people go on here you would think that it is Dunne's fault that Munroe is a binman!Munroe is a big boy capable of making the decision to quit the bins and commit to boxing but you have to ask yourself why he won't do that.
Re: Who next for Rendall Munroe ?
No, Kiki isn't a better boxer than either of them, but he's a tough, big puncher with a swarming style. A win over him is as good (or at least so close as to be negligable) as Dunne's wins over the other two imo.
No I don't think Easham was shot when he fought Dunne - that was my point about people looking at the win with hindsight. He may've been a bit rusty, but it was a good win and the one result that is clearly a step above anything on Munroe's record.
Some people do seem to have written Dunne off (wrongly imo) based on one fight where he got stopped before he ever got started, but I don't remember anyone on here blaming Dunne for Rendal being a binman! Still, the fact remains that Munroe could be better prepared and in the best shape of his life if he packed in the dayjob for a really big fight.
I think the most important thing is that it would be really good to actually see this fight, rather than it slip by as so many others have over the years.

When people talk about Dunne they have the attitude that he has had everything handed to him and that Munroe is just this humble binman, and they dislike Dunne because of it.mickeyb wrote:No, Kiki isn't a better boxer than either of them, but he's a tough, big puncher with a swarming style. I agree this fight should happen, or should have happened months ago then the winner taking on Cordoba.
It's just a bit hyocritical when people write Dunne off as a hype job and at the same time say Munroe should fight Ponce De Leon based on two wins over Kiko Martinez!

Re: Who next for Rendall Munroe ?
I like both Dunne and Monroe, both come across as decent sorts as well.
I've never really thought that Dunne had it all on a plate, he has worked hard, you don't go over to america and make an impression if your no good. The one thing Dunne did when he came back to Ireland was put in good performances , and excited the crowd.
Monroe was more of a slow starter to his career, he wasn't someone that stood out early on as star potential, he lost at british title level at feather, most of us thought he'd found his level then. Monroe then found his right weight level, and has looked a much improved boxer, someone who can operate on the bigger scene.
A fight between the 2 has got to happen, i just hope that Dunne can win his big shot at Ricardo Cordoba.

Munroe has said he will keep on doing the bins because hes getting paid to train, he runs round doing the bins and apparently is done by dinner, then in the gym anyway !
Re: Who next for Rendall Munroe ?
I thought the European title held esteem with the WBC so surely after so many defences Munroe must be highly ranked by that body and set for a crack at their champion...who is....err...Vazquez maybe?? I forget.
If Dunne wins against Cordoba (big IF) then a first defence in Dublin against Munroe is a natural.

I've not seen anything of Cordoba, is he that good?
Of course the win over Caballero stands out, but that was 5 years ago, and Caballero is much improved now, since then Cordoba hasn't really beaten any stand out boxer. Everytime he's come out of Panama he's not won.
Were the draws in Germany fair results?

Re: Who next for Rendall Munroe ?
I reckon Munroe continuing with his day job has a lot to do with his selling point aswell. Maloney is trying to sell this working class hero, a man of the people. After every fight you'll always hear 'he'll be back on the bins on monday'. It's stuff like that the general public love to hear.mark thompson wrote:Munroe has said he will keep on doing the bins because hes getting paid to train, he runs round doing the bins and apparently is done by dinner, then in the gym anyway !
It gives them the feeling that anyone could do it, that he's just one of them and has managed to conquer Europe.
The Hi-Visibility jackets are another example of how the fighting bin man ideal is being exploited as Maloney tries to rally the fans together and wear the colours to support their fighter. Kind of like how a football fan will wear a replica jersey of his teams kit.
It's very smart stuff from Maloney and while I think it has been slow burning, it's like a rolling stone now. Gathering more and more moss as it goes along and Munroe is picking up more and more fans. Another few defences and Munroe may indeed move onto football stadiums rather than the leisure centres he's been fighting in.
