Since Danny Williams won the Commonwealth title from Australian Kali Meehan in 2001, and Danny unified it with the British title, the Commonwealth title has only been defended against one non-Brit. (Australian Bob Mirovic). The rest have been against British people being that the champion has always defended both titles at the same time.
What are peoples opinions on this? I know that you should fight people based on who you think is the best, not what country they come from, so if you happen to think all the best challengers out there are British that is who you should fight, but does anyone think that there are good non-British fighters who are getting skanked out of shots at the Commonwealth title because the holder (now Skelton) just happen to be holding the British title too.

This was a point raised by a member of the BBBoC (it may have been Simon Block) when Mark Hobson won the title. With it being still hard to obtain footage of some of these foreign fighters that have been nominate for the country - it is hard to know if mis-matches will happen. There have been some excellent Commonwealth title matches involving non-british fighters (Bennett vs Muya for example).
Its a hard question to answer and whilst I think you have a point, its hard to find out which are the legitimately good fighters.
