I've already commented on this and other examples of Roger's work. I agree on the exhibit part, Randy. I was raised by a grandfather that loved Dempsey, and everything I learned about the man proved to be true. This is a man who truly was bigger than life and his essence comes thru in Roger's image. Randy, you mentioned that you have a disc of Roger's work. Could I trouble you too copy it for me? I would like to slip it into my lap top and then show it our WBHOF board members at our next meeting in April. We had a meeting today, however, other issues had to be dealt with and as we know, a picture can be better than a thousand words. I'm attempting to sell a concept relating to Roger's art, one that would hopefully benefit everybody involved. We'll see what happens.

Frank, these photos are going back a ways. Jeri and I, 1979 at the Colorado River. I was fishing for Stripers that day. Never caught any. I caught a few Largemouth Bass though. You're liable to get anything at the river. That's my old Landcruiser.

Thanks Randy. I commented that I'm painting over some the past works. Feeling rushed and uninspired . It happens. But now I feel a new surge of energy. I want to thank you again for letting me post on your site. Rick has mentioned that he will show the WBHOF some of my works and perhaps there is something for me there. Bruce was kind enough to send me the Ring magazines that had mention of me, and the Ring magazine covering the main event at the Aladdin Hotel featuring Mike Quarry vs Tom Bethea. I fought on the undercard. I am overwhelmed by his generosity and his willingness to put forth this effort on my behalf. I won't forget. My wife and daughters were overjoyed to see my name in the Ring Magazine, knowing what it means to me. You made me look good in front of my family Bruce.

Bruce, to use Brian's expression, you're a stand up guy!! It doesn't get any better than that.

THE CROSS

Haven't been across the border in over a month. That's a long time for me. Got a hair cut. Went to the farmacy to get some meds. I see the peso has gone from 11 to 1 to almost 15 to 1. Store fronts are vacant.Premium gas is 3.60 a gallon. More beggars on the street. First time I didn't see a tourist on Revolucion Street. Even the line coming back was sparse with cars.

I passed a few little cafes. The warm smell of their kitchens are very recognizable.Tomatos,manteca,chiles cooking on stoves. The thing was I didn't see a customer inside. Mexico hasn't converted to daylight savings time yet so I was pretty early walking around trying to find a barber shop. Finally one opened.

The barbers work slow. They are meticulous. Trimming around the nose and ears. Using the scissors a lot. The straight razor. They're somewhat like artists. I got it cut short this time.

As I was walking to the farmacy where I go to to buy things, (don't hassle with the prescription down there.) ,I passed an alley . Deep in the back were two of those stripe painted burros that stand on the corner where you can sit on them and get your picture taken. For some reason I turned and entered the alley. The burros were eating hay that someone had left for them. As i got up to one of the burros,I heard a noise behind me. A footstep. I looked over my shoulder .It was this bum. I could smell him . That bum smell of strong body odor. He was holding a bottle by his side. He looked like a hype. That part of TJ downtown below Ravolucion Street is full of needles and rags on the ground where bums live and sleep. In alleys mostly.The smell of urine is overpowering.

The bum saw that I was wearing a pouch around my waist. I didn't say anything. He didn't either. I saw him raise the bottle like he was going to hit me. He was reeling a little. Unsteady. I grabbed him with my left hand on his forearm. I could feel his strength that he wanted to get free and probably hit me with the bottle. With everything I had I hit him right on the jaw with my right hand. He stumbled backwards and fell against the wall. There was no one else around.

I ducked around the corner from where I entered the alley,walked directly to the parking lot where my car was,and drove off. I drove to another farmacy away from that area.

As I was waiting in line at the border,I got to thinking how desperate things are getting in Tijuana. It's every man for himself.

absolutely ridiculous, the report on fightnews states that the cut opened in the first round from an accidental clash of heads, and that the cut was REALLY bad, gushing blood for the remainder of the bout, pretty strange that they would let the fourth round expire, and then all of a sudden decide, wait a minute the cut is too bad to let him continue now that we don't have to worry about a no-contest ruling,

well you guys called it, Marco's cut hadn't healed yet and it cost him, but it did also sound like Khan was just too speedy and was dominating the fight, I'll have to catch the youtube of it,

I heard Don King mentioning a 5 year contract that Barrera just signed with him, I'd like to know why Barrera broke with Golden Boy, and who the hell is he going to fight for the next FIVE years?

Enzo Macca got kayoed on the undercard, I guess he isn't going to be carrying the Weslh/Italian torch for Calzaghe

Martinez captures Cook’s super-featherweight title

MANCHESTER, England (AP)—Roman Martinez knocked out Nicky Cook in the fourth round Saturday night to capture the WBO super-featherweight belt.

The 29-year-old Cook, who won the title in September, had been in control of his first defense until the Brit was floored by a left uppercut in the fourth round.

Shortly after Cook got up from the canvas, the Puerto Rican mandatory challenger landed a powerful left hook. As Cook (29-2) struggled to get up again, referee Dave Parris called a halt to the bout at MEN Arena in northern England.

Martinez (21-0-1, 13 KOs) was fighting on the undercard of the matchup between Amir Khan and Marco Antonio Barrera.
