Khan v Barrera Post Fight Discussion spoiler merged
Re: SPOILER. . . . AMIR KHAN
I'm not that impressed. I knew Khan would stop him (I have proof), because Barrera was too old, too fat, too slow and too small. It was an okay win, nothing great.
Joke.
Joke.
Re: *SPOILER* Here we bloody go
It was incredible cynical. He should rematch Prescott before going anywhere near a title shot. All Frank's trying to do is bypass the issue. Michael Gomez was right: he's got world class abilities with world class flaws.
Roach has probably improved him massively, but he's not faced a proper threat and, simply, Barrera was not a threat, as clearly seen in his last two fights.

Re: Khan Result
Khan has improved alot.
He didn't get carried away, and timed his combo's. Similar to the way Pac did to DLH

Re: SPOILER. . . . AMIR KHAN
This is bull shit! That cut was horrific and it should have been stopped after the second round. It looked no worse after four than it did after two.
Should have been a no contest!!!
Kahn won every round and looked sharp, but still that cut was awful and Barrera was at a complete disadvantage
NO CONTEST

Re: *SPOILER* Here we bloody go
i know there was the cut, but you cant give amir no credit for winning tonight, he was controlled and disciplined and he got the win and the name on his record. yeah hes a bit chinny, i thought the left hook marco landed wouldve been the end but amir is a talented young fighter who will probably pick up a world title at some time or another, there have been worse champions at every weight.
Re: SPOILER. . . . AMIR KHAN
Perhaps they can wait 3 years for Marquez and perhaps another year and a half for Morales, eh?
And then fight Naz at catchweight.
Waste of time. I bet they will always avoid putting Khan in an even fight.

Re: Khan Result
That's about the most rounded conclusion I've read on here post fight. Some people have a fixation on this preconception that Khan was meant to enter the ring and become Floyd Mayweather Jnr.observer1 wrote:Khan has improved alot.

Cut was a shame - Barrera was old - Khan looked improved. End of story.
Re: Khan Result
He'll never be ready for JMM or Juan Diaz. That was not a world class opponent in there tonight - it was no better than how Jones Jr looked against Calzaghe.jeej wrote:I think it would be too soon to chuck him in with those guys, but I definitely want to see him against another dangerous top 10 opponent.fluxstuff wrote:We can't say anything about Khan after that. He's fought another man who's naturally smaller - it's the same old bullshit. If he gets a title shot with JMM or Juan Diaz (if Marquez vacates) then he will lose, clearly.
I can still hear the audience booing: is it for Khan?
Re: *SPOILER* Here we bloody go
Come on ffs, credit where it is due.
OK, Barrera's cut did not help, but Amir performed well before and after the cut.

Re: SPOILER. . . . AMIR KHAN
the jury is still out, khan looked good but who knows which way it would have gone if the cut hadn't happened.

Maybe cos Marco kept saying he wanted to continue?neil hibbert wrote:why wait till the 5th to stop it just so khan gets the win insted of a no contest.... bullshit
Some seriously bitter shits on here tonight.
Re: Khan Result
Khan's boxing improved a lot.
But the cut made the outcome unsatisfactory. Barrera rode everything and if he wasn't cut...who knows?
But he'll fight for the WBO title in the autumn. (Khan that is).

He won't take that WBO shot unless Marquez vacates for the Pacquiao/Hatton winner.Autobarn wrote:Perhaps they can wait 3 years for Marquez and perhaps another year and a half for Morales, eh?

Re: Khan Result
Did anyone else think it should have been a NC?
Re: Khan Result
You have to consider his opposition - I'd look great firing punches off against a toddler. A young, pre-prime Khan battered an old, faded legend.jeej wrote:That's about the most rounded conclusion I've read on here post fight. Re: Khan Result
Masterclass!!!
Barrera was not slow, hes 1 of the faster LW punchers if anything, he was slower than Khan and waited to counter as he always does, this Barrera's counters gave loads of trouble to Marquez and Pacman and I had him beating Marquez. The difference is Barrera could counter Pacman and Marquez but he couldn't counter Khan. The cut did affect Barrera but it wouldn't have made that much difference, Khan was doing the same thing to him prior to the cut and Khan's movement, speed, timing, defense were phenomenal.
Khan is a genuine challenger to Marquez now and if he beats Marquez to the punch the same way he beat Barrera to it and get out he can beat JMM too. Marquez doesn't have much over MAB at this moment in time

Re: Khan Result
Those two work hand in hand. I think Khan looked improve simply because MAB is over the hill.jeej wrote:That's about the most rounded conclusion I've read on here post fight. Re: Khan Result
Na thats harsh considering Khan won every round. I would agree a NC if the fight had been stopped in the first 3/4 rounds because of the cut but not thereafter.Exoddus wrote:Did anyone else think it should have been a NC?

comon no bein bitter but if he said at the end it shud of been stopped and given the circumstances im sure he would of taken the nc all dayjeej wrote:Maybe cos Marco kept saying he wanted to continue?neil hibbert wrote:why wait till the 5th to stop it just so khan gets the win insted of a no contest.... bullshit

You versus a toddler is hardly comparible to Khan VS Barrera, poor analogy.fluxstuff wrote:You have to consider his opposition - I'd look great firing punches off against a toddler. As I keep saying; Barrera was past it, the cut was unfortunate and awful, Khan seemed improved. I'm not saying Khan is superman, far from it.
