who does khan fight for the vacant title??

Post by boxerbob »

personally i think warren will go for the easiest fight out there

it should be katsidis or prescott , they are ranked above khan

i dont think khan deserves the number 1 rating beacuse he beat barrera who was number 1 , i can see a lawsuit if warren gets his way as khan is ranked 7th in the wbo ratings

katsidis is 2 and prescott is 4

There isn't a cat in hells chance his next fight will be for the title unless it is vacant and Warren can make Arthur/Khan.

Warren has already stated he will be having a couple of more fights before going after JMM, as if he means it...

They'll sit tight now and wait for the easiest route to open up, and then take that path.

The WBO title will likely become vacant and that effectively rules out a fight with JMM ever.
Looking at the WBO ranking structure, I think we can safely forget about Prescott (Ranked 4th) and even Katsidis (ranked 2nd). I know Katsidis is a bit unrefined but he strikes me as being like Prescott, only we know Katsidis has a warriors heart too.
We can forget Anthony Peterson (Ranked 6th) because he has a pretty good KO record and a 74 inch reach, plus is a natural lightweight.
Juan Diaz (ranked 8th) is also a big no no, too dangerous.
Guzman would be a big name but another one unproven at Lightweight. Would be risky for Khan.

So the possibilities are Antonio Demarco (Ranked 3rd) (could be risky though because he's tall and has good KO record, record seems a bit padded but could be another Prescott). Actually forget Demarco, far too dangerous.

So, once again, the possibilities are Barrera rematch (ranked number 1), Alex Arthur (Ranked 9th, career super feather, coming off loss to Cook) and Jorge Barrios (ranked 10, ageing super feather, heavy handed, never fought at lightweight and coming off a TKO loss. Quite small too).

There could be interest in a Barrera rematch, Marco will insist he didn't get a fair deal first time out. I think Khan-Arthur would be a big seller, good domestic shake up. Barrios is the ideal opponent though, decent record, perfect age and size for Khan. Another "legend" for Khan to scalp and collect a world title?

Khan might pincha World Title - but he won't keep it...Hang on a minute, he will just do an Enzo ( fight basic opposition ) and then when he fights agoood fighter...he is done.

Please no Barrera Vs Khan II

Barrera is one of those guys who just can't let go though, he's already said in the post fight that he couldn't see etc, and if not for the cut it'd have been a different fight. I might just be a cynic (lets face it, all us Brit fight fans are!) but Barrera is already laying the groundwork for a rematch. We all know how fond Fwank and Khan are of making big bucks for a (relatively) easy nights work.

To be honest I'd rather watch Naseem Hamed give Steve Robinson a rematch at Middleweight than see Barrera get back in the ring with Khan but I can just see it happening, big summer "blockbuster" of a fight

Bring on Marquez, Khan might just have enough for him, rather risk it all against the LW KIng than against Guzman or Petterson who just maybe better and no big rewards for the bother. A pity Campbell isn't still champ because he was there for the taking.

yes he did. i mean if head not had the cut then maybe it would have gone to at least round 6 and MAB to ko khan. i just feel like MAB was robbed. the cut is an excuse. for khan to say hes shut the critics up?? . no he hasnt .the real boxing fans will be onto khan for that comment.

well funny you should mension campbell in the mix. there were negociations between campbell taking on khan. but the fight fell threw as khan was a chicken shit.warren knew to risky fight for khan the china chin would have got exposed.
if khan ever considers getting in the ring with guzman or peterson hes in for worst night of his life. he will get Ko'd brutally even worse than marquez and the diazs.hahahaha.

self righteous nonsense.

khan wouldve beaten barrera without that cut. i cant believe so many people picked barrera. khan has world class speed & decent power. barrera was too small to bother khans chin. he was ko'd by a big hitting lightweight. im a bit disappointed i backed khan to stop him in 1,2,3,4 and i think he couldve done a few times when he had him on the ropes, but khan backed off, when have you ever seen him do that before? he backed off and protected his chin, i think he will start to mature, maybe all the stuff about the prescott loss being good for him wasnt bollocks after all.[/quote]

ok so wait until kahn gets into the ring with a world class oppant like peterson or guzman or diazs .he will get ko'd .so badly not to mension Marquez.

Beating a washed up Barrera should'nt automaticaly make you a mandatory for a world title shot. Khan does'nt deserve to be anywhere near a title shot and his ranking is way beyond what it should be and so was Barrera's for that matter. Khan has'nt won a British or European title, has fought no genuine calibre lightweights, only blown up featherweights like St.Clair and Gomez, been put down by guys like Limond and sparked out by a virtual unknown. Now, after spending a short time with Roach and beating a shot to pieces Barrera, he's suddenly a world class fighter, who has improved beyond all measure

I dont think so........ :shame:

Beating a shot Barrera does'nt impress me and should'nt impress the governing bodies who sanction the rankings list and decree who should fight for a world title. Khan has had excellent press since he began, along with good PR and consequently can now make a lot of people a lot of money, hence the quick route to a world title. If Khan was to do it the orthadox way, ie, British and European titles, a few defences, then some genuine top ten fighters and finally a world title eliminator, he would fail before getting anywhere near a world title fight.

Yeah Marquez will soon give up his titles I feel to move upto light-welter to chase the winner of Pacquiao-Hatton. Maybe Michael Katsidis?

i hope not. well if he does then i think khan does not deserve to fight for a world title .i think someone like prescott and others who are ranked highter than khan should have first choice. ifs its the WBo then khan for sure which he does not deserve title shot. like warren most likey to cut courners to that.

there aint a hope in hell that khan will fight katsidis and even a lesser chance he`ll be put in with guzman, those two can punch, expect him to go up against a punchbag in his next fight, the lightweight div is deffo the most competetive out there,it would`nt surprise me if khan moves up a weight

Got a source for Campbell offering Khan a fight, and how many 22yos you know are stepping into world title fights before they are properly developed anyway? Not many

Campbell was never nearly as good as Barrera anyway, he got sparked by Peden who MAB shut out

I'm sticking with Barrera II, Arthur or Barrios. All three are smaller guys who haven't done anything at the weight. Ideal fodder for Khan.

Can't see Khan moving up either, unless it was to fight someone like Malignaggi
