Nicky Cook Fight- Result/SPOILER!

Post by whicker »

Sorry if this has been posted already- I don;t see a dedicated thread, and I'm not opening "Tonights results" type threads because I don't want the brum bill I videoed spoiling!

Cook looked well in control, rocked him alomst down in round 2, and then was caught BANG in round 4.

Poor bugger.

Might be footage on allegedly's official site, I'm not sure .

It was karma.

The man who used to wear crossed hammers on his claret and blue shorts, "Bubbles" as his ringwalk... came out in ManUre livery and, therefore, got what he deserved! :)

Stoppage too early? He might well have got stopped wit one more punch.

These refs make it up as they go along.

Same ref that did Hatton Vs KT and ripped Danny Williams off against Sprott.

Bloody joke.

the ref was a bit stupid though. but unfair though. even if the ref let the fight continure after cooks second ko .would cook get ko'd again. he got put down twice and ref just stopped the fight. what is next for cook ?

I just felt this guy would be too much for Cookie so I wasnt over surprised when he got the stoppage. Fair play to Cook he had his man wobbled in the first and he was doing well until he was caught with a bomb. Down twice it was only going to happen again so the refs intervention was the correct decision. Sad though Cookie has been great entertainment and where his career goes now is a bit doubtful.

I always imagined there would come a point where Kevin Mitchell would reach the standard Cook attained. This would surely make it impossible for their trainer (Cook Sr.) to work with both fighters.

Cook may feel too young to call it a day but he has twice been found wanting against genuine world title opposition and having won everything worth winning below that level, I can't see what else is left for him.

I missed this 1, didn't get back in time, thought it was a formality. Maybe Cookie will get a rematch or maybe it will be a blessing in disguise for Mitchell who may finally get his shot. Unbelievable bad night for British boxing rescued by Chillie Con Khany

It was a bad night for British boxing Cookie and Macca were fairly beaten. Khan got the decision via an accident so for me it is meaningless.

just watched it.

thought the stoppage was a tad unlucky.

he beat the count.

admittedly he was hurt.

but it was only the 4th rd and a world title on the line.

martinez speed made the difference.

just that bit quicker and cook never saw the left hook up close. :(

Seems a deabtable stoppage, but when Cook went down his legs did look wobbly. His immediate reaction to the stoppage does show though that his head was clear enough.

Martinez didn't impress me at all. Very awkward and clumsy but he did the job. Fair play to him.
