I think he's as handy a prospect as the heavyweight's seem to be able to produce at the moment. He's progressing along nicely and seems to be getting fitter with each contest and using good variety and improved body punching, plus he used the jab to set things up more which was good. I see a fighter moving in the right direction, leaning his trade and we cannot expect much more from him at this stage.

i think he looked poor

his balance was shocking, you could defo see his inexperience

being a heavy doesnt help, cause the general standard he fought at in the ams was poor, cause the whole heavyweight division is, expect at international level which he never fought at as a senior

he should have waiting till after 2012 olympics

Not that impressed with that display last night. I feel any guy landing a half decent shot will put him down. Hope I`m wrong.

Get him in with Enzo for a shit or bust blowout.

Granted his dads gib hasnt helped him, but people should cut him some slack!
Agreed. I think he is doing well. He is a novice who has fought very good opposition in 4 fights and whilst his style and physique are not 'aesthetic', he is very effective .

vitali klitschko style and balance is shocking, wide stance etc...but..he is the champ. so lets cut tyson some slack, he is doing well and has a few handy scalps for only 4 fights. lets support him till he falls, its tough for these really tall guys to look stylish. i like the guy, he talks well on camera and seems humble.

He looks inexperienced, because...well he is.

I suspect he lacks a bit of power, it's all in the arms at the moment - I think as he steps up he might have to start generating a bit more power.

He's quite accurate though, and punched well to the body which you don't see from heavy's very often.

I'm not sure myself, need to see him some more, but he did a decent job on Swaby to be fair.

i do like him... just think he should have stayed am for longer he is too young and inexperienced and would have beneifted more with 4 years in the ams fighting good international oppos

I don't think we're slagging him off, i can see alot of positives in him already.
Needs alot of work as well though, but any heavyweight generates excitment.

I think after saturdays win his management might slow down his progress a little, fight a few boxers of the same level, get him some rounds.
We've not yet seen what happens when he's made to work at his opponents pace.

yeah but what can fury do, swaby should have given him more rounds but ended up caving in, fury is really looking like a decent prospect....im gonna scour europe and look for someone who will give him a few rounds whilst remaining a decent test. but its the usual thing with prospecs, try them against punchers, try them against workers, try them against spoilers....but, if fury keeps stopping them there is nowt we can do.

no chance of fury v chirosa now to be honest. neither camp would like it as both prospects have not yet peaked in terms of level.

i would fancy fury over macdermott as macdermott has peaked at fringe british level, ive said it before but i think fury beats him.

I'd have him in with Zake Page, the guy has just took Sprott and Garcia the distance here. He knows his way around a ring, would teach Fury a thing or 2.

I thought it was another good result for Fury. Swaby presented him with a few different problems and again he's passed, with pretty much, flying colours.

I'm still reserving full judgement until the guy has had 10 fights.

Next stop USA. :TU:

By Fury's age Tyson was Heavyweight World Champion!

I agree that people should cut Fury some slack.
The only negative I would point out to is the fact he has yet to knock anyone out. At this stage you would expect a couple of KO's or at least dropping an opponent for a count or two.

Some of the people on here do my head in. It's like they're desparate for people to fail just so they can say "I told you so!" and look clever. Fury's just a kid in heavyweigh terms, but he clearly has a lot of promise. Why is he overhyped exactly? Who has been saying that he's going to be world champion or anything like that? ITV have been trying to build him up, but they haven't been going overboard about him. What's more, the same people criticising ITV for giving the guy airtime and building him up are no doubt the same ones who complain about the inability of the TV companies to bring through new stars. We can't have it both ways. I don't see why people can't just sit back, chill the fornicate out and wish the kid the best of luck, because few things would be better for British boxing's future than a genuine new star at heavyweight.

Good post. Fury was getting press coverage for a number of years before turning pro or getting on TV, just cos he's a big lad with talent, who is the son of an ex-pro and bare knuckle fighter. Its good to see a prospect like Fury boxing regularly on TV. For years British HWs have been awful to watch - the saga of Harrison, Sprott and Skelton, always fighting and losing to each other - so slow, such poor stamina, such limited and boring fighters. Now Im not saying Fury will go further or indeed reach British level, but for a novice who is 6'8 he is very fast, keen, seemingly inteligent and mixes up his punches well. In interview he seems a decent lad, who has confidence, desire and an opinion. Personally can't knock him. Those armchair pundits who sit their on their laptops writing up their reservations and criticisms are doing what they always do, giving themselves far too much credit as boxing hardcore fans and experts. Remember its a sport and entertainment - enjoy it. There are plenty of current and ex pros who are praising Fury, which to an extent makes a mockery of some of the jobworths on here who think they are all knowing, yet have never set foot in a ring.
