he was way to confident though in the ring. brushing his shoulders etc.. he was a bit cocky but won the fight. i feel for Enzo mac .what next for him ?

I'd think that his family moved to London from Nigeria, he was born here and grew up here, but seems to be based in the USA now. Not sure if he just moved there for his career.

His future depends on who has control of him Warren or King. If its King then i expect him for stay inactive and not really to push on much, get a fight in the next 2 to 3 yrs on away soil and get beat quite clearly.
If its Warren then he will be chief support on his bills (assuming he beats ramirez) defending the wbo belt aginst poor cheap opposition, failing that look what frank did with MBaye
I think he could be a very hard fighter to promote and get a decent support behind him, could possibly have him fight other british fighters to get a name for him self.
Hide is ranked very high and is well known over here, and im sure if the money was right Norton could get a world ranking

I didn't see his entrance. I guess he is a Lennox Lewis type 'person of the world'

I get the impression that he is Nigerian in the same way that Enzo Maccarinelli is Italian- its his family background.

On another note, can he succed at World level? Enzo was dominating him, in all fairness- although not hurting him.

Eearly signs suggest a fighter with good punch resistance, a good punch when needed, but perhaps not the best technical skills.

Is there any footage of him being interviewed after the fight? I think the Sky show just has Enzo- which is a bloody annoying habit- Oh, sod the winner, lets just interview the "home" fighter.

Ola got a massive cheer from the crowd, which was nice to see.

Ola grew up in the UK, moved out to the states has basicly lived at the Wildcard gym I trained with him for 4 years he has always had a hard time getting good fights, but has done well for himself as a sparring partner for some big names in the sport.

That has served him well, obviously especially when you consider that he doesnt have a background in the amatuers, Ola has finally broke through and I am happy for him, to be honest this was the first Brit that called me a wank~

Hope Warren gets him on board because he looks like a really tough kid and I really want to watch his fight with Ramirez now.

I thought real tough kiddie, totally and I mean totally unfazed by Enzo Maccarinelli.
Thought he was a dangerous dangerman beforehand, mind you , during the fight I became disappointed after 4 rounds or so.
Although he wasn't fazed by the home fighter, he wasn't actually doing all that much. He was being cocky, which I have to admit was funny, turning to the crowd shaking his head , but not really doing an awful lot in return.
I was left thinking it was just going to be another bullshit Warren dangerman that wasn't actually going to be able to do much other than survive, but maybe Afalobi knew different all along.
Enzo was much better conditioned that much was clear, and some of Enzo's shots Afalobi would lean right back on the ropes they were missing him by milimetres, I thought it's a matter of time before he gets tagged.......but over 36 minutes I guess Afolabi just had more.
Wasted no time in making himself popular afterwards, there were loads of people around me getting pics , autographs with him, which he was more than happy to pose for.

He was born in Kent to Nigerian parents, grew up in Nigeria but his parents sent him to live with relatives in London, so he could go to school here. Went to school in Streatham Hill. Had two amateur fights for Battersea Boxing Club, went to America and turned pro after going to the Wildcard gym. Has a UK passport. Dino Duva is his promoter.

I interviewed him last week and will probably do a piece on him on my blog this week.

He had two amateur bouts, so he won't have been in the ABAs and it is most unlikely anyone will remember him. He didn't even know that Howard Eastman had been at his club, although he knew who Eastman was

He 1st met him at london bridge, told him about the club, ola had 2 bouts with them, 1 @ the prince regent hotel in chigwell, and the other at harlesden(trojan)?, once mel gets the dates, I will know if I filmed it, I would assume that I did film the one at prince regent,
