Poor old Enzo, or should I say young. Hes only 28 but his career looks in a shambles. He has fought a lot of bums that fell over and I suppose that gave him false confidence. He landed some pretty heavy punches on Ola but this guy is no bum and took them well. This must have really surprised Enzo who thought anyone would fold if he hit them hard enough. In a way it was a bit like when he fought Lee Swaby. Well up on points then bang and its all over. Enzo had felt Olas power earlier on so he needed to be more careful and get the points win. I think Enzo was knackered by round nine and had little left. He used everything up earlier in the fight trying to get the KO. Time out of the ring hasnt helped but it wasnt a major factor. I think its quit now or have a drastic change. He desperately needs a new trainer.

Looking back, Enzo hasn't had a worthwhile bout since his knockout to Haye. I'm not sure it was wise for them to stick in in a 12 rounder. (although of course Hindsight is a wonderful thing.)

But the career plan seemed just to have him win back his old title right away, without any comeback fights.

What a very silly comment. Did Joe pop out of Mrs Calzaghe popping right jabs? No, Calzaghe taught him everything -- literally everything. And Joe is one of the best British fighters ever.

I think realistically, it's the end of the road for Macca now.

I know everyone wants to blame Warren, but I think if it wasn't for Sports Network, Macca wouldn't have achieved as a much exposure as he has done so far to date.

Sure, he was fed alive to David Haye - he was a pawn in a money deal for that fight.

But examining the crop of fighters out there like Adamek, Cunningham etc I cant see how Macca can compete.

His best win was Wayne Braithwaite (points) and his worst was Bobby Gunn.

Macca is a nice guy and I wish him luck, but i think it's either move up or down in weight or pack it in.

Dear Enzo,

Having watched your sad loss to unheralded Ola Afolabi, I need to ask you to seriously consider your future career as a professional boxer.

You made incredible improvements and, inbetween some lacklustre opposition, scored some good wins. Your fights with Mark Hobson and Wayne Braithewaite were entertaining. Your unification fight with David Haye, while ending badly for you, was a genuine case of a world-class battle happening in the UK. The biggest since Bruno-Lewis, in fact.

You won a world title, something that looked impossible following your loss to Lee Swaby. Some will be keen to credit Enzo Calzaghe for this but I believe it was your heart and desire to make the best of your talents that pushed you to this.

On to Saturday's fight: anyone can be caught clean, anyone can lose a fight. But you were being rattled by shots from a non-puncher from the third round. Ola couldn't fail to miss you with the right and, finally, he landed the one that really counted. That you were put down so heavily by a b-level fighter suggests you need to seriously reconsider your career.

These things happen, though i suspect that the leathering Haye put on you, short as it was, has seriously diminished your punch resistance. For all of Calzaghe Sr's claims that, if the fight went 12 rounds, haye would never fight again - Haye beat you in 2 and it looks like he finished you as a serious contender.

Having listened to your post-fight interview and the way you slurred your words, for your own health, please stop. I am concerned you will take serious damage when you have a young family and a future already in place from the fights you did take. You've achieved more than most of Sky's pundits, so maybe look to that as a career - you're a good talker, well-versed in boxing and a plasant change from the useless Nicky Piper.

So, once more, for your own sake, please retire or take a good look at what you can still achieve. It may hurt your pride to admit it, but it will hurt your family more if you get seriously hurt in the future.

What did Gavin Rees do except win a world title? One of the most retarded questions I've ever heard. (Apart from "Whose Gavin Rees?" Answer: Enzo Calzaghe's Gavin Rees).

And what about Maccarinelli's talent? Did you think looking at him in his youth he most natural boxer? Did I miss those early flights when he flowed across the ring like Ray Leonard and smoothly rattled out the combinations? No, I didn't. Maccarinelli has not squandered his talent.

The Calzaghe one really takes the buscuit, though. Sure Joe was talented -- one must be to achieve greatness. But how many talented fighters have done what Joe did? How many fighters have achieved what Joe achieved full stop?

Did Joe come out of the womb knowing what he knew? To be sure, he must have had some natural talent, but he had to be taught technique, how to punch, combinations, tactics, the lot.

If you could teach people to do what Joe can do -- you would be, because all the talented guys in the world would flock to you if you could do for them what Enzo did for Joe.

I am going to give you some background on Ola Afolabi, he has been a well kept secret at the Wildcard gym for years, the kid has not had one single amateur fight, he has basicly lived in the gym and has put in the work to get where he is today.

his record very misleading, he only has five Kayos and 3 draws with only one single loss, that loss was early in his career at the hands of Allen Green (SMW) Ola has spent the last several years as a sparring partner for the likes of James Toney, Kingsley Ikeke, Bernard hopkins, Romin Karmazin to name a few.

his fights that he has had, as I said the record is misleading, with no Amatuer background and wanting to go far in this sport, he didnt just go out there for the Knock out, he had to basicly get in rounds so that he can further develope his skills, which is why you only see 6 knock outs on his record, the man was having a very hard time getting fights, and the fights he would get, like I said if you just knock out everybody it will be harder to get you fights, no promoter or manager will want their man in there with you.

So basicly Ola had to play the waiting game but instead of just waiting he stayed in the gym and sparred as much as he possibly could, I remember when he only had about 6 fights he was already sparring with Kingsley Ikeke, and was beating up Ikeke in the gym the kid does have talent.

So in all of this Enzo lost to a bum, that isnt the truth, Ola is an un heard of but he is not a bum, I have explained this time and time again since they put this fight together, Ola has been under the radar and if anybody over looks him it will be a costly mistake.

Congrats to Ola for his hard earned win~
