Michael Kirby vs Haumono or Hoppa
Michael Kirby vs Haumono or Hoppa
Kirby is 1 tough rhino who should challenge haumono or hoppa, Haumono said he wants 10 fights this year & stepping up opponents, well I see them struggling against the Rhino
good win kirby you deserve it m8.
Re: Michael Kirby vs Haumono or Hoppa
The kid from Parramatta via the Liverpool/Green Valley PCBC made the "Nasty Boy" look limited, didn't he? Great effort. Even a badly broken nose could not slow Michael down.
Re: Michael Kirby vs Haumono or Hoppa
i doubt that would happen anytime soon. too big a risk for either of them. before last nights fight, people were saying that briggs was going to beat him again, even smash him.
now that michael won, he's gonna be on a real high. i couldn't see any of these fights happening anytime soon, as it would be too much of a risk for either fighter (haumono & hopoate).
considering michael's only had a few pro fights, he's only going to get better.
if any of you saw shane mosley on fox sports the other day, when he was talking about anthony mundine and being able to take shots on the chin, well michael can certainly do that, and come back.
i really think that if there's a heavyweight to watch in australia, he's one to definately look out for.
toughness and intestinal fortitude is one thing, but he also has ring intelligence.i hope he does well and go a long way

Re: Michael Kirby vs Haumono or Hoppa
Terrific Heavyweight fight last night
Re: Michael Kirby vs Haumono or Hoppa
I would see Kirby taking Hoppa's best and then stopping him. I thought Briggs got drawn into a slugfest last night, He needed to stay on the outside if he had any chance of winning. I dont think many Aussie fighters can stand head to head and trade with Kirby.
Re: Michael Kirby vs Haumono or Hoppa
I was watching towards the end and sounded like he was saying "I want Solo" & he'll take on any h/w
if he wants to be on top he has to take hoppa & haumono don't worry about taking on briggs, leapai, wilson, cronje etc they can come later,Kirby is a massive threat 2 both Tongan brothers just a matter of getting the deal done.
Re: Michael Kirby vs Haumono or Hoppa
I think he would have a good shot at Hopoate. Hopoate has a walk up style and anybody who stands in front of Kirby is taking a big chance. Kirby is a monster for strength and seems to soak up punishment.
Re: Michael Kirby vs Haumono or Hoppa
I think Hoppa hits harder than Briggs, would be interesting to watch, couldn't pick a winner yet, both boys haven't had that much experience.
I feel for Briggs, pretty sure he was heading for the states after this fight, don't know about that now.

take on any Heavyweight ehhhh...........Does anyone who saw the fight believe he is ready for the Dominator yet?isabella wrote:I was watching towards the end and sounded like he was saying "I want Solo" & he'll take on any h/wif he wants to be on top he has to take hoppa & haumono don't worry about taking on briggs, leapai, wilson, cronje etc they can come later,Kirby is a massive threat 2 both Tongan brothers just a matter of getting the deal done.

I dont think Mark would get drawn into a slugfest like that, 5 years ago probably but not now.toppity wrote:take on any Heavyweight ehhhh...........Does anyone who saw the fight believe he is ready for the Dominator yet?isabella wrote:I was watching towards the end and sounded like he was saying "I want Solo" & he'll take on any h/wif he wants to be on top he has to take hoppa & haumono don't worry about taking on briggs, leapai, wilson, cronje etc they can come later,Kirby is a massive threat 2 both Tongan brothers just a matter of getting the deal done.

On the original note I think Kirby would be too much for Solo. He keeps coming forward and won't give him a second to rest. Hoppa would be a great fight with two animals who won't back down, in the end Kirby's chin might get him the win...

G'day,I appreciate all the comments and interest all the posts brought forward,both pos and neg,but I was always quietly confident.Just wanted to make a few things clear,I am NOT going away,and for all your entertainment I will question all the top heavyweight fighters,my record isn't padded and is preparing me for overseas fights as i'm usually fighting the hometown favourite,I give my team an honest account of myself and don't duck any reputable challenge.This regional title is a great platform and should take me to a commonwealth title fight and I assure you I am not going to die wondering! cheers;
Re: Michael Kirby vs Haumono or Hoppa
thanks for the post Michael.
Did you see the thread about a fight with Rogan? Is such a fight a possibility?
Also, is there one particular local fighter you'd like to have a go at? Personally i'd like to see you vs Mark DeMori (i know he is chasing fights in the states at the moment). What do you reckon the chances of that happening are?

we're supporting you rhino, whats the chance of chasing a fight with solo? or to be the 1st 2 knock him out?iron rhino wrote:G'day,I appreciate all the comments and interest all the posts brought forward,both pos and neg,but I was always quietly confident.Just wanted to make a few things clear,I am NOT going away,and for all your entertainment I will question all the top heavyweight fighters,my record isn't padded and is preparing me for overseas fights as i'm usually fighting the hometown favourite,I give my team an honest account of myself and don't duck any reputable challenge.This regional title is a great platform and should take me to a commonwealth title fight and I assure you I am not going to die wondering! cheers;

if this fight ever does come off,(with hoppa that is), one thing that should be stipulated in the contract is to use thumbless gloves.

but seriously speaking, these really are exciting times in the heavyweight division here in australia.if you look on the world scene and the heavyweights out there, with the exception of the boxing fan, who can name the heavyweight champion(s) of the world?????
they come from the former ussr.
when you look at it, we have some real talent here. some are willing to take on all comers, while others are going for the low risk maximum reward path.
i ended up coming across mark de mori's website, and on it, he was saying how he wanted to become a tv fighter ala arturo gatti.
if he ends up taking that path, which he most likely will, people are going to say who has he fought.
here's a litte food for thought, when there's an up and coming fighter, a heavyweight especially, people and critics especially start putting question marks on the fighter....
how is he going to react when somebody tags him,can he take a punch, can he step up to the next level and so on.
in michael's case, he certainly can do that. i've watched the rematch with briggs 4 times as well as seeing the fight with les mason, and the first briggs fight and leapi fights on you tube. in each fight, michael has shown improvement. for a big guy, he definately knows how to fight on the inside, and considering heavyweights, especially his size, the only other one that i've seen that was a great inside fighter was riddick bowe.if a fight with any of these two(hoppa or haumono) ever come off, it's gonna really whet the appetite of boxing fans around the country, providing they (hoppa or haumono) want to take the risk.
another thing i might add is that michael is doing it all without sponsorship. he's a carpenter,(staircase installer). so what that involves for him is to get up early in the morning, do his running, go to the factory, pick up his job for the day, go on site and install stairs.once that's done, which isn't an easy job, then it's off to the gym for training, then home for the night.these two, along with a few others got it a little easier in the way that they got sponsorship. hopefully for him, racking up a few more wins and getting national exposure, he'll be able to get some sponsors on board.
much like it was in the days of the wild west, if someone throws out a challenge to you, you either accept it or you don't. michael's shown that he's willing to trade skills with anybody in the country. it's up to these two(hoppa and haumono)whether they want to get in the mix. i can't see what a fight with cliff couser is going to do for hoppa's career, or what it did for haumono's other that to say that they fought an american import(and a geriatric) one at that.they're much better off taking on all comers here in australia, as there really is some talent.i know that the both of them will end up reading this, and it's really up to them if they want to step up to the plate.
fighting stiff imports will do their careers absolutely no good, only positive that will bring to them is to fatten their bank accounts, but if it's credibility and legitimacy that they're after, fight the heavies we got here in our own backyard, i'm sure the iron rhino will be more than willing to accomodate both of you and trade skills with you.
like i said in an earlier post, i really hope michael does well.

iv got an idea!! if Kirby is calling out Haumono & Leapai is calling out Hopoate well ladies & gentleman we've got ourselves a heavyweight explosion but is their a bluddy promoter who can put this on? I got Jamie Myer who comes to mine, isn't hoppa or mirovic under him & leapai fought main event on his card.
-HEAVYWEIGHT EXPLOSION-
Kirby vs Haumono
Leapai vs Hopoate
Cronje vs Briggs
Mirovic vs Cameron
Who of these choices could be mainevent they are all great matches or any1 got any match ups
in mine?
Re: Michael Kirby vs Haumono or Hoppa
Hoppa is the Aus champ so he would have to be the Main Event. Kirby might fight second last in a "co-main event". Cronje - Briggs before them and Mirovic can retireisabella wrote:-HEAVYWEIGHT EXPLOSION-

I think Shane put rest any reason for a rematch with Bob when he knocked him out cold last time. Hang them up Bob, you have done a great service for Aussie boxing, however the time has come.isabella wrote:misd 669 wrote:if this fight ever does come off,(with hoppa that is), one thing that should be stipulated in the contract is to use thumbless gloves.DD
