Corrales vs Freitas thoughts.

What does anybody think of this Superfight (I think its on in September) most posters on different sites seem to be going for Freitas - yet, Corrales has started as the bookies favourite.

I did think it was odd that Deigo is the favourite, I would say that Freitas is happier at Lightweight (as Diego appears to be making Super Feather without to much trouble since his jail term). Also, I would give Freitas the edge in chin and power,but Corrales the edge in boxing ability (but surely not a big enough edge to avoid getting tagged for 12 rounds).

Any views on this fight, I think Corrales will get stopped, protesting around the 10th (with the fight very close on the cards). I can see Corrales winning the fight, but going down 6 or 7 times but never looking that hurt (like Tito, he seems alot harder to keep down than to put down - he protested in both his defeats). I can see him protesting again this time.

I only hope Casamayor is not forgotton about, I watched the rematch (with Corrales) the other day - it was alot closer than I originally thought. While I still thought Diego won, I could see why Casamayor was angered by the decision. He beat Freitas in my opinion, so I hope he can get involved in the picture.

All i can say it is 50-50. 2 huge punchers..this aint going long.

so it's surprises me that you can get Evens on the fight lasting less than 9.5 rounds!

You don't get much better than this. The bookies have no idea who'll win this one either. Fantastic fight for the fans, just what we need after a pretty poor year all round.
Two of the biggest punchers in the sport without a doubt. I think they both hold a shot ok too, despite going down a few times: always seem ok when they get up. Maybe a balance problem, like Nas.

I get the feeling Frietas is a little more sturdy. He'll probably get put over, then get up and land one of those murderous swings from the hip: lights out for Diego I think.

At the moment, I am favouring Diego. I am sure that may change and back again as the fight gets closer

I'm going for Corrales. If he fights cautiously like he did against Casamayor in their rematch, then i think he can outbox Frietas (who i feel is slightly overrated) quite comfortably. Although they both carry a serious dig, i think that it'll go the distance, with Corrales surviving more than one scare to win a narrow decision.

Freitas is on the way down, he's looked more and more ordinary of late. Corrales is the bigger banger of the two, but he also has the more suspect chops. Corrales wins by late KO after outboxing Freitas early on, and delivering a hearns like crusher.

Got my money on Freitas to win this one.

Just got a slight hunch that Freitas will win around Round 7 with a great counter punch

I think Chico stands too straight up for Frietas. I can see acelino landing big bombs and finishing this in about 5 or 6.

Freitas is nowhere near as skilfull as Cassamayor, and Corrales was able to outboxing Cassamayor, I just don't see Freitas having an easy time of it.

As far as I know Suarez is still training Freitas, and that's another big reason to favour Corrales, he has goosen in his corner, and Goosen is a far better technical trainer than Suarez, who seems to know jack shit, judging by the pathetic advice I saw him giving Hamed during training for the Barrera fight.

It's always risky betting against Diego, but I think Frietas does have good boxing skills and when this is backed by a thunderous punch, good fitness and a fantastic desire to win, it has to be an Acelino win for me.

Acelino's boxing skills have deteriorated, he was so easy to hit against Barrios, who was a crude mauling fighter, and came very close to losing his title.

He has a punch, but I cannot see how he hits harder than Corrales.

I'm really clueless on who will win this one. I'm also useless at picking chico fights. His 3 big fights of recent years I've got wrong. I thought he'd beat Floyd

I then backed him to beat Joel

so for the rematch I picked Joel to do a double over Chico and look what happened??!!

This could be fight of the year material. 2 big punchers and 2 chins with big ? marks hanging over them. I just can't wait to get a tape of this!!!

If Chico sticks to his boxing then he should have enough to frustrate Freitas but I wouldn't wanna put big £ on this one in a hurry.

Doesn't anybody think the weight difference might have a bearing. Perhaps Freitas' recent poor efforts were down to weight making difficulties. Aparently he did destroy and albeit faded Grigorian.

Also, people seem to be forgetting that for large parts of the match with Casamayor, Freitas was outboxing him. For me, Casamayor allowed himself to be "outboxed" in both of his defeats - he lost as opposed to the others winning. I'm not trying to disrespect Freitas or Corrales here, who both put up great efforts in these fights, but for me I would still back Casamayor to beat the pair of them (comprehensively aswell) if he doesn't freeze.

Wouldn't say that Freitas 'destroyed' Grigorian. I thought it was an ordinary performance, despite the knockdowns, a couple of which I thought were borderline slips.

I'm leaning towards Corrales, who's coming off a good performance rather than an average one, but I shall be keeping my money in my pocket.

And we'd better bloody get to see the fight over here! This really looks like it will be a lot of fun.

Yeah Mickey I realised as soon as I pressed the submit button that was the wrong description. I would call it better than average (I have only seen highlights, but a shutout against Grigorian is impressive). What I meant is from the clips I have seen, he looked a more fresh fighter than the stale one the had a life and death struggle with Barrios.

As for the question about UK television, whilst I don't think anything is set in stone, I'd be SHOCKED if this isn't on a Sunday morning show. Freitas and Corrales are both regularly shown on Sky - two of the most regularly shown foreign fighters infact.
