Best fights of all time

Post by Chambers2 »

I'm looking to invest in some of the greatest fights and would like some input before I select which ones.

Here are the ones that immediately sprang to mind

Gatti Vs Ward trilogy (1 & 3 especially)
Morales Vs Barrera trilogy
Corrales Vs Castillo I
Lewis Vs Vitali (love that fight)
Eubank Vs Benn I
Hagler Vs Hearns
Gomez Vs Arthur
Naz Vs Kelley
Haye Vs Mormeck

I've never seen the Eubank Vs Thompson fights, is one of their fights more entertaining than the other?

Steveholdsworth has a quite a few British small hall classics, as do a few others on here.

You won't go far wrong with some classic British dust-ups in your collection.

Michael Ayres v Colin Dunne should be the 1st aquisition to get the ball rolling. Breathtaking action from start to finish. :box: :TU:

I sort of remember that the first was best, however the second was great 'cause everyone was behind Chris willing him on against the bigger guy.

The greatest fight ever recorded on camera is Chacon v Limon 4. Makes Ward v Gatti look like a pillow fight.

DeMarco v Basilio 1 and 2 is fun.

One of my favourites for technicnical quality was Dela Hoya - Mosley 1. You can't look far past the Vasquez - Marquez trilogy, either.

From the past, two oft forgotten classics are Arguello - Mancini -- although Arguello Pryor hasn't been mentioned here. Lupe Pinto against Wilfredo Gomez is amazing, too.

Of the local stuff, has anyone mentioned Brodie - Chi yet?

It was a twelve round beating, every other fight on this thread has been a war.

Ian John Lewis V Trevor Smith,
Latchmere Battersea
up and down, best atmosphere ever
If I can get my video converted to my comp, I will load this up, I had 3 cameras filming this fight, even had Mark Baker use 1 camera, probably the best small fight I have ever seen..

Vasquez v Marquez trilogy was amazing, you could probably play the 3 in a row without a break and they would look like 1 long fight (except the stoppages of course), they were at it every round, so much skill and heart

The list you're asking for is very very long. Can it be narrowed down at all? UK fights/eras/weight divisions/lesser known fights etc?

Not many Heavyweight fights so far so I'll suggest.

Tua v Ibeabuchi
Brewster v Liakhovich
Holyfield v Bowe I
Ali v Frazier I & II (but i'm sure you knew that)

And for a UK closet classic in the vein of the Rigby Ayres fights how about Scott Dixon v Derek Roche from 1999?

Yeah I got that one off you years back Eric, a real war - always think of that one when I see Ian John Lewis in the ring these days, he's been there done it.

Barrera/Morales 1
Arguello/Pryor 1
