Hello,
I would like to know exactly how the ratings are combine, caculated, Because I find it very hard to believe that the system could have World Champion's rated lower than Prospects, I am a devoted Boxing Fan, and Supporter of most of the boxing sites, but this has be one the most rediculist things I ever heard of, for instant you have the WBA Super- Welterweight Champion Travis Simms Rated at 21, but then you have old fighter's, past there prime ( such as Yory Boy Campus #19 ), ( Rodney Jones #7) and Prospect ( such as Marco Antonio Rubio,Shannan Taylor, Héctor Camacho Jr., Jesse Brinkley, Tokunbo Olajide, Sergei Dzindziruk, Peter Manfredo Jr., Kofi Jantuah) just to name a few, I personally think that rating's such as these are disrespectful to fighter's (Champions), However, I still consider Boxrec a pretty good and informative site.
Thanks for your time,
Platinuim571
Not to rip on you too much platinium571 but as a "devoted boxing fan", i am surprised you work yourself into such a lather over fake WBA type "champions"
Simms is decent enough fighter, but he is only a "champion" because the WBA designated Winky Wright the "Super Champ"? Do you think beating Terra Garcia makes his an elite Jr Middle?
What about the WBA Middle Champ Maselino Masoe? Is he the Champ at 160? Should he be listed over Sturm or Eastman because he won the "title" from Evans Ashira?
I agree that some of the BoxRec rankings seem out of wack but being a "champion" now-a-days is so meaningless, it simply cannot factor in on rankings anymore. I mean, hell everyone rips the WBO as a meaningless, fringe organization (myself included) but you could argue that they have the top fighter in several divisions: Mark Johnson (115), Diego Corrales (130) and Joe Calzaghe (168)
Well not to rip on you either war machine, but "I give credit where credit is due" despite what other people say, and yes I do work myself up over fighter's such as Simms, because I've seen this guy fight on numerous ocassion and I was alway's impressed with his skills, I really feel this guy is the real deal!
also, It's good to finally see devoted fighter's work there way up to be champion then to be spoon feed by promoter's, and Simms did that! I remember when he fought on the Lewis vs Tua undercard in Vegas
and beat the crap out of the Austrian Kevin Kelly, who was coming off a fight with then, WBA champion David Reid, where many thought Kelly won that bout.
and I believe Simms was a mandatory Challenger for Shane Mosley after he won against De la hoya, and then Mosley recieved a ok by the WBA to fight Wright, and Lossed, and now Simms is Mandatory for Wright, I would really like to see those to fight it would be an intresting matchup, with both fighter's being south paws!

There is a very slow decline in points due to inactivity.
