Thur19th - Setanta/BBC boxing

Post by Buncey »

The Bunce Hour this week will have a lot of emails - I'm looking for Khan fallout: [email protected]
I will look at lightweights and plot the route...several names in machine. I've got one or two ideas up my sleeve.
Also, middles...Andy Lee and others...
And one or two secret weapons.
That's Setanta at 2pm
Later that night on BBC radio London 94.9 my weekly sports show will have a boxing theme from 7-9pm.
There is a number for live talk!! 0207 224 2000 and text: 07786200949. I think that it is available online for those living outside the London area.
By the way on Saturday (14th) 29 pro fights took place on four promotions in Britain...bit of homework: Is that a British record?

Is this advertising on the forum ? Ban this man :TU:

Seriously, Buncey, what happened on Saturday with Khan happened it's done and dusted and whether MAB could see or not, whether it should have been a no contest or not, whether he was shot or not, he won. Looking forward, I'd like you to explain how Khan can be ahead of Prescott in the pecking order for world title shot ?

Great to see that Andy Lee will be on the show, a future World champ in the making...

You'll keep your large Irish audience happy there Buncey, plus your Irish bosses!

Keep up the good work

If talking Middleweights, I think you have to give a bit of time to Hassan N'Dam N'Jikam (ranked #9 in the World by Boxrec). He won a professional French boxing tournament called the Grand Tournoi back in December.

Possibly watch out for Parisian Rachid Jkitou in the future. You can view him in action on YouTube.

The Khan fight is far from done and dusted. There are a lot of questions out there...where, who, when, Prescott etc. I will try and find a few answers.
Middleweights...did somebody suggest I speak to a couple of French middleweights...what about Macklin, Minter, Graham, Pyatt...and Watson.

Herbie will be on the BBC London show - it will be pre-recorded!!

Any chance we may hear some Haye news? Both with the Liverpool bill and the never ending story of his Wlad fight which is getting as tedious as a Ronaldo to Real Madrid story

Prescott again?! Not in a million, Amir may as well step under a bus.

Alan Minter, be great to hear what he's up to.

Why not a part of the show where you pick up rights ( or borrow ) and screen a short older fight, or highlights (during a quiet week ) like Hagler/Minter, and have both talk either side of it, give their takes on it....

Better yet, get those old BBC colonels to finaly release the film of Minter/Sibson and do the same thing - it's only been 30 bloody years and they've still got it banned. Virtualy no-one has ever seen it, it's a stunning KO and one of the most intense staredowns you'll ever see.

Great shows by the way

Bunce Hour: Alan Minter, Andy Lee, Matt Macklin, Enzo Maccarinelli, Kalle Sauerland, Bob Arum (well, a message), your emails ([email protected]) and a secret weapon or two.
Also, Herbie Hide will be on the BBC London 94.9 show - however, it will be pre-recorded. It's on Thursday night between 7-9 and it is available online. It is a phone-in (0207 224 2000).

I know he is a "friend of the show" but you are the man to ask him the tough questions. He didnt look like he had that much power and he was completely gassed by round nine. Why was that? Was it because Enzo Calzaghe was in court everyday rather than training him or did he do the wrong type of training? Or is it that he has found his level, just below the upper echelon of cruisers?

Looking forward to it

Enzo is a big honest guy - he will not avoid the truth.
I forgot to mention the special guest - live in the studio...Michael Watson.
