TV channels list on schedule page

Post by Emaster »

The TV menu on the schedule page could include channels which do not have scheduled any events in order to show users the scope of channels BoxRec covers. The menu could either be divided into two sections or the channels which have scheduled boxing could be highlighted. Alternatively, the schedule page could link to a Wiki article listing all the channels covered by BoxRec.

I would also encourage BoxRec to add the channels' languages in case it's not English, e.g.:
ARD (German)
PolSat (Polish)
Telemundo (Spanish)

The channels on the schedule page have now been attributed to the countries in which they are located, which I think is even more useful than my proposal of stating the languages in which the commentaries are held :TU:.

This card's main event (V. Klitschko vs. J. C. Gomez) is telecast by RTL in Germany (not to be confused with the Hungarian channel RTL Klub).

If you really want a more comprehensive list, you can check this out:

http://home.comcast.net/~nymb242/tvnetworks.htm

The channels in yellow tend to show boxing more regularly.

Perhaps you might also want to include online sources, like g*fightlive.tv? They are popping up more and more. With TV networks struggling and several dropping or contemplating dropping boxing from their programming, seems like online sources may be becoming more prominant in boxing.

The problem is, it's almost a full time job hunting all this info down. Just from Japan alone, boxrec could really use someone looking up listings. I never see any Japanese television listed and live boxing is shown there nearly every week.
