I'd say that was unlikely. I get the impression that in the past small hall boxing was popular, and was reasonably regular across the country with small hall shows being quite common. My dad used to say how where he grew up (Grimsby) there was regular boxing on, alternating with wrestling. Other than the York Hall I don't know any venue now that hosts regualr shows.

If you look up the record of Len Wickwar its amazing just how often he fought- three times a week wasn't uncommon. Even if that WAS still allowed now, work of the reguality would be impossible to come across.

As such I'd speculate that on certain Friday and Saturday nights there were many such small hall bills going on across the country, surely making a total of more than 29 fights nationwide, the results possibly going unrecorded other than a single report to the relevant area council.

Be great to hear about the fallout with the Enzo Maccarinelli fight and the Amir Khan fight.

I hope you will say it as it is regarding the Barrera cut and should it have gone past the 4th round!.

Also, sounds like alot of juicy gossip regarding Maccarinelli's fight and more importantly his preperation. It sounds like maybe you could be Jeremy Kyle (lie detector, cause someone is lying).

buncey you should try and get Afolabi on the show, maybe in next weeks show, he seems to be a very gifted boxer, natural reflexes, and seems to be a real nice guy. it'll be nice to know more about him, and it'll be interesting to hear what they want to do now, if they want to give enzo a rematch etc because i personally don't know much about him, and i don't think many others do in britain either.

if he can take boxing seriously, and do the work in the gym, he's got the talent to really go places.

I think you are right but I don't know if that is the best for him. He needs to be fighting regularly in meaningful fights.

i would'nt go with enzo calzaghe if i was maccarinelli for the simple fact is that maccarinelli had to train himself, enzo could of sorted out certain things for maccarinelli like sparring partners, but instead he was too much into his court case. a trainer should love his boxer like his son, now would enzo calzaghe of left his son in that position? no he would'nt, and that's why maccarinelli should leave enzo calzaghe and go to a trainer who's mind is not on other things. it's a dangerous job to mess around.

for me, i would only go back to calzaghe if calzaghe promised to give me 100%.

I just mentioned this on the Other Sports section. He's talked about it more than once, trains BJJ, and is gonna have a hard journey to get back into title contention in boxing. He's a big fan, has talked about it with Dana White etc too...

good show today and seems that Khan will be taking the Wbo route for a title shot but Fondu the manager of Paulie MOses and romanov was on the show and those fights seem a possibility with allegedly allegedly also saying the same. Great to see Michael Watson looking so well and good guests in both Andy Lee and Alan Minter. Kelle Sautherland still wants the Pavlik fight for Abrahams but said his man wants that fight and then will move up as he surgested the poorer performence last saturday was weight loss related. Both Dobson and Price talked about the Liverpool show with Price saying how good he feels with the pro style and had a pop at Fury saying he was talking more about Him than himself. Finally a very honest Enzo Mac came on and basically said he was at fault for the loss and had done no sparring in the build up to the fight. he didnt want to take anything away from Ola but said he was so gased at one stage of the fight he felt Ola catch him low and thought about taking a knee to get the guy thrown out and gain him so time.

Did Enzo Calzaghe speak? I've got it taped but not around to watch it. I cannot see him being to happy about this no sparring story, if it is true or not.... not a good advert.
