Yes Starling had just been knocked cold by a punch after the bell. By the time the interview started he hadn't a clue what had happened. He seemed under the impression he'd just knocked the other guy out.ed rob wrote: Wasn't there also a strange one with Marlon Starling after he was knocked out on the break?
He insisted to Merchant that he hadn't been hurt at all - they had to show him the replay before he realised what'd just happened.
Similar to what happened to Bami recently, though I felt sorry for the poor guy in that one, after just getting the full Sky build up.

The Nigel Benn handjob comment after beating Galvano amused me no end. The Honeyghan - Bumphus fight though, didn't the bell go for the start of the 2nd round and Honeyghan tore across the ring to flatten Bumphus who was slow getting off his stool?? Isn't that why now refs hold fighters back in the middle of the ring at the start of a round?

Yeah I remember watching McKenzie - Rolando Bohol on my 1inch Sinclair B&W TV when I was about 16....the interviewers was a little patronising...ed rob wrote:I seem to remember Duke McKenzie winning his first World title and then breaking down in tears during the post fight interview and saying 'I thought he was going to knock me out!'

Molinares ko'd Starling on the bell and I think Marlon thought he'd won when he was being interviewed....
I remember something of the Starling post fight interview - there was a big dilemma about whether the fight should have continued.
One of the strangest performances I have ever seen from a world champion. For the vast majority of the fight, Starling was fighting like a magician, absolutely awesome. He was really making Molinares look silly.
I remember my father coming in, he'd missed all of the early action and I said "Watch this guy, he is awesome and will smash Honeyghun" then for the round he got KO'd in he just did absolutely nothing. It was as if someone at turned off the duracel batteries. He wasn't tired, but seemed to be drugged or something. Weird display.
