Exerpts from My Book on Palookas and Tomato Cans.....
Truth can be stranger than fiction and the professional boxing career of Buce , the "mouse" Strauss adhered to that analogy. His career begean on a most unusual note. A promoter in Oklahoma was desperatly trying to find a replacement fighter to fill in for a fighter who failed to show up. Bruce who was attending the fight card as a fan agreed to fill in at the last moment. Bruce had never boxed before but he took a quick physical, put on the gloves and stepped into the ring. Despite his complete lak of experience he won a four round decision againat Gary Maiza on June 1st, 1976, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.
Jesse Clark from Ohio......
Jese Clark nicknamed "Johnny" was from Columbus , Ohio. He stood around 6'4'' and weighed around 210 pounds. He possessed a good punch but lacked a solid chin. He is is rumoured to have won hsi first three bouts, all by impressive knockouts allthough such could not be verifed through boxing records.
To escape the watchful eye of state commission he occassionally fought under different names such as John Mccoyor John Clark. Certain fights of his are known to have taken place but the exact dates and locaations are unknown.

1980's Boxing Book. Exerpts.....
The bout was shown on network telelvsion and world renowed sportcaster Howard Cossell served as the commentator. The challenger, Randy Tex Cobb, a relative unknown had lost previously to Ken Norton and Michale Dokes. Both losses were close decsions that could have gone either way. Standing 6'3'' and weighing 234 pounds Cobb was in shape. He also had an incredible chin and was well liked by fans and media. However, against the champion, Larry Holmes, he was outclassed. Holmes, a smart boxer stayed on the outside and used his jab and quick right hand to keep the challenger from Texas at bay. Cobb relentlessly came forward and just absorbed punch after punch. His left eye began to redden and "swell." The bout continued. Cobb was game but took way too many blows as his head often jerked sideways with "sweat" flying off it as he was repeatedly tagged by the champion Holmes.....
Commentator Cossell remarked "This bout an outrageous mismatch and is an advertisement for abolition of the sport of professional boxing. It should be stopped"

....
The era that saw performer Michael Jackson achieve superstar status and the televison show Family Ties become popular as well as the group New kids On the Block emerge came to an end as the decade was finalized. It also brought an end to 1980's boxing. It was an exciting time for boxing fans. It was a time when many top fighters put forth their best efforts to keep boxing fans in "awe" with many great fights and there were many. Whether it was the epic battle between Marvelous Marvin Hagler and Thomas hitman Hearns or the classic heavyweight showdown between Larry Holmes the Easton Assassin and "Gentlemen" Gerry Cooney of the Brawl in Montreal when Roberto Duran the hands of stone and Sugar Ray Leonard clashed; there was just no shortage of excitement for boxing fan in the 1980's. The decade was truly action packed. For boxing fans it was not only great to experience but just as good to look back and reflect on. It offered the best in boxing for apprecaitive fans.....

Exerpts from my Book on 1980's Boxing..
...
By the fifth round Moore's face showed the effects of Duran's punches. His eye was nearly swollen shut, his nose was bloodied and his mouth was agape. Also, he was being hit with virtually everything Duran threw at him. The bout needed to be stopped. Despite such the refeere as well as the corner of Moore failed to do so. Moore, then absorbed a Duran right that sent him to the canvass. When he rose the action resumed which consisted of Duran being pummeled even more. It was a horrific sight. In the eighth and final round Moore was actually out on his feet and only standing by leaning on Duran. Finally his corner threw in the towel and the bout was rightfully stopped. For the sport of boxing it was a terrible showing and for Moore he endured what could be described as a career ending beating. Fans were repulsed by what had taken place. Boxing insiders believed the bout might have such a psychological and physical effect on Moore he may never recover career-wise. For Duran he had done it. He now held a Title and officially put the infamous "no mas" behind him. His boxing career, once stalled, was revived.

Learn how to use the spell check before publishing a book or posting excerpts from them! There are so many spelling errors just in what you posted I can only imagine how many there are throughout the book.
Also, Duran's career was spiraling downward not only because of the Leonard fight, but also because of his loses to Benitez and Laing.

Professional Boxing. An Inside Review of Major Bouts.....
Andrew Golata vs Ridick Bowe
On July 7th, 199 Riddick Bowe was scheduled to fight Andrew Golata at MSG in New York. Two heavyweight forces would collide with only one emerging as the winner. It was a bout hyped with all sorts of fan and media interst. Bowe, a former Champion was the favorite. Golata, A relative unknown, was stepping up in competition. He needed to prove himself against a formidable foe. Who would win this highly anticipated contest. Boxing can be the theater of the unexpeected. No one knew for sure what to expect. To find out conclusively, the would have to fight. The bout would be broadcast live on HBO.

What do you mean by "An Inside Review", robsteth?
You aren't a boxing insider in any way, shape or form. There is no depth or insight in any of the bits you have posted on here. They sound totally banal.
Perhaps you meant they are written from inside a lunatic asylum?

I'd agree with this assessment. One of the best bits of advice I was given about writing had to do with refraining from regurgitating the same old information. If you're not on the inside and don't have useful, entertaining information that the vast majority are not privy too, then what you have is nothing more than organized data and opinions.Collins2000 wrote:vatech1983 wrote:Professional Boxing. In general, if no one is willing to publish a book for you then it's probably not good enough to be a book, which is why self-publishing is also called VANITY PUBLISHING.
