Hatton vs Pacquaio - Who do you think will win and why ?

I've been trying to mull over this fight in my head and work out who is going to win and i confess that it's proving a difficult task. Hatton is the proven fighter at 140lbs, will be stronger than Pacquaio and have the harder punch, but if anything, im edging towards Pacqauio, because i feel that he has the superior skills, speed and movement, has the stamina to go the distance and i can see Hatton struggling to set himself, chasing the fight, getting successfully countered and losing the fight on a points decision.

How do you see the fight unfolding ? Who will win and why ?

Thanks :D

Hatton is a physically larger and stronger man, but Pac is far improved from the wild slugger he used to be, he has fast hands and I can see that southpaw right hook busting up Hatton pretty bad and Pac could end up winning by a late TKO after a tough first half of the fight.

But what do I know :geek2:

But could you say the same thing about Diaz and De La Hoya ?

When you say "too big" DG, what are you actually saying ? Are you suggesting that Hatton's overall punch strength will wear Pacquaio down, that he could be stopped with one of Hatton's punches ?

i say this, because i don't think that Hatton will get near Pacquaio in the fight. I think that Manny will fight more on the outside and deliver shots and combo's when the opportunity arises and will cause a lot of damage with thise fast hands. I can see Pacquaio's movement and hand speed being a major problem for Hatton and think he could be picked off over 12 rounds. As i said in my opening piece, i think Hatton will struggle to set himself and find a rythm and will be countered through-out the fight.....

Whilst size will be a factor, i don't think it will have t much effect for this fight.

I was going for Pacman but as soon as Htton hugged him after beating him at darts I changed my mind and put money on Hatton

He is too big and I think he has enough skills of himself to give pacman a very unpleasant evening

I think Pac will outbox him and out speed him Hatton will not be smooth enough 2 get on the inside and get caught going in and lose a wide UD

I think that Hatton's peformance against Malignaggi was better then the brawling Hatton we have seen in other fights over the years, but i don't think he will be quick enough to implement his size, strength and power advantage. Pacquaio will be in and out very quickly, with good movement, using the whole ring and will pick off Hatton by counter punch and back him up for short combo flurries, when the time is right

I feel that Pacquaio is'nt strong enough to stop Hatton, but will get the points decision

Too big?

I think the weight on the night will be telling.

JMM had Pac in trouble and I am sure Hatton hits harder.

Its a very tough call and one of those Changing your mind each day leading up to the fight
Hope they do a 24/7

Im going for Hatton to come through some trouble and win on points

9/4 for hatton to win is very tempting as Hatton is no 1 Light welter at moment.

But i think Hatton struggles with fighters with fast hands

Regardless of the weight and size advantage that Hatton will have, i don't think he has faced a figher with Pacquiao's attributes at 140lbs before and someone who has been at the prime of his career.....

The only guy that comes close is Mayweather at 147lbs, so for me, this is new territory for Hatton

He would be more applauded for taking a real TRADE fight like Cotto!

And fighting the top boys consistently like a SSM or any other fighter who takes trade fights...like Cotto!

He is taking less of a risk in this fight just like in the PBF fight.

Applaud my arse!

I think Manny will out box hatton and win a wide points decision. Hatton will be chasing and getting countered all night.

BIGMARK wrote:Tough fight to call this one but i believe Ricky is to strong for Pacman. Yes i know Diaz was stronger than Pacman but that was a hand picked fight to make Manny look good at the weight and the Oscar fight a joke plus at 140 Hatton is a monster. I have been on Hatton's case for years about his lifestyle out of the ring and maybe this could be the fight that it catches up with him as if he is anything less than 100% he could lose. Still i see Manny being surprised by Ricky's pace and speed (which is under rated in my book) yes Manny will be the faster man on the night but Ricky has enough to catch him and hurt him. Manny isnt the greatest defensively although he has improved as has Ricky so both will land. Manny has been KO'd by body blows in the past although a long time ago) so i see Ricky targeting that and as the fight goes this will slow Manny down and i see Ricky stopping him around 6-8 rounds. Pacman is no Pretty Boy Floyd and Ricky as a boxer isnt given the credit he deserves and i can see it being very one sided. I hope i'm right.
I don't see it being quite so one sided, but I agree with most of what you've said.

if ricky can get inside and work pacmans body then i agree that he cud rough pacman up a bit.but i c ricky doing alot of chasing so wen he gets his chances he better take them because pacmans his best opponent apart from mayweather ofcourse and has the ability 2 give him a bit of a run around like flyodd :TU:

search wrote:The fight will go one of two ways...

Hatton by stoppage or Pacquaio by stoppage. It won't go to points.

The reason why is because Pacquiao doesn't clinch in his fights or hold. When have you ever seen him clinching or holding, or being clinched? He is very fleet of foot and moves away and comes in and out with a rhythmic Mike Tysonesque style. So he is going to be popping Hatton and trying to land sharp and POWERFUL combinations to Hatton. He will believe he can outbox Hatton and will do whatever it takes to keep the fight in the centre of the ring and outbox Hatton and at times push him back with his combinations. If he gets hurt at any point, he will fire back and get into a war as he did against JMM at times and Morales.

Hatton will try his hook and hold tactics and will push forward and try to rough Pacquaio up. He will know that Pacman is susceptable to body punches and will try to impose his will on Pacquaio with his come forward style. If he gets hurt, he will try to hold on but Pacquaio won't let him. If he hurts Pacquaio he will try to take him out and will happily engage in a war to do so.

The overall point is, at some point one of them is going to get hurt and it is going to develop into a war I think. The only way it wont is if Hatton is so outskilled that he can't even touch Pacman (which is a possibility). But Hatton only knows one way to fight so he'll have to come forward at all costs regardless because if Pacman ever gets him on the backfoot, he's fucked.

The recipe is there for a stoppage on either side. With Hattons fading stamina of late, I would heavily favour Pacman in this fight, who is miles ahead in terms of skills and will hurt Hatton with the straight left hand to the chin.
I agree with your 3rd paragragh or a near version of that

hatton does better against straight ahead fighters. he struggles more with speedy fighters and particularly left handers. pac was fast down at 126 and 130, let alone 140. :box: add in pac's ability to take what he's given and his ability to fire straight back.

tough fight for rick. i'd never rule out hatton's chances out completely. cos u don't know how pac is gonna respond to that style of hatton's. but u have to make pac a favourite.

probably pts or the accumulation taking it's toll in the last couple. :(
