Thanks for the upates. I must admit, after the Martinez debacle and the fragilities Bernard seemed to display in his last bout, I wasn't entirely convinced. Tonight has proven me wrong and massive congrats to Mr Dunne for coming through the trenches and finishing in such style.

I sincerely hope that Cordoba's trip to the hospital turns out to be no more than a precautionary measure.

RTE cut the web stream during a very interesting post fight interview - shame to miss the last few questions there but it was a great fight to watch live and one that I will remember for a long time to come.

I hope RTE can sort their differences out with Sky so we can see future Dunne et al fight cards on UK TV.

To be fair to you PR I can vouch for that - you have always been a Dunne devotee; even through the dark times.
Ireland winning the Grand Slam touches the heart in pc times. It doesn't go below or over my head as a second genertion (plastic) paddy. Great night for the Irish and good on them.

That was an absolute barn-stormer of a fight!!

Fair play Dunne to come back from being down twice in a round.

What a day to be irish!!!!!

I've known about dunne since he was an amatuer. Fair play to the lad, he really showed heart and deserves his day in the sun.
Glad to see this performance has finally seen you give Dunne some credit and the respect he deserves search/lirva.

I was at the 02 and it was a very special night. Dunne was brilliant, Lee was good, Taylor was basically herself destroying opponents and Rock was in a nice scrap with Furlan but I wasn't impressed with Murray because he basically jabbed his way through the fight

Frank "You're all jerking off" Maloney

Dunne has no chance

LOL

I thought it might have ben right time right place for Dunne. Cordoba is good. But he's the least formidable of the super bantam champs.

Ben Dunne - new WBA half champ. Enjoy it - while you can.

They want Munroe to win a title when he fights for one.
who against?

Vazquez?
Marquez?
Caballero?
Juanma Lopez?

Looks like the Irish have picked the most beatable champion. Cordoba may have beaten Caballero, but Caballero did way better since their meeting. Cordoba also has the poor half of the WBA title, the "regular" title not the "super" one. if he wins, it would be hard to call him a world champ as that organisation already has a champ (Caballero), a unified champ at that (IBF, WBA).

Cordoba may be better than Dunne, but it might be right weight, right time, right place, you never know. Flashy, popular fighters like Dunne do often get the chances that less fancy, underrated guys like Munroe.
Flashy popular fighters get the chances?!!!
Munroe was offered the fight first.
I think you mean some fighters TAKE the chances!
Stop with the "poor little underrated Munroe" BS, he has got more luck and chances than even Dunne has got ffs.
Are you saying Munroe was offered Cordoba first?

I'm just saying that an underrated fighter has to work for it. Like Munroe. He twice beat Martinez, twice ground out the win. And then you see Dunne - flattened in a round by Martinez, never really fought anyone good since - fighting for world titles. Money, hype, popularity, flashiness - and taking calculated risks - do obviously pay off.
