Just who has Pavlik beaten since Taylor, (Lockett, Rubio)
Hopkins outclassed Pavlik, he has major trouble when fighting sm1 with good boxing skills and good movment.
Don'tlisten to all the hype Abraham hasnt fought in U.S who cares he js beat Simon who was unbeatan
Should Pavlik be ranked above Abraham
Re: Should Pavlik be ranked above Abraham
Pavlik is the Champion and his two wins over Taylor are better than anything Abraham has done.
Pavlik should be the top ranked fighter in the division.
Pavlik should be the top ranked fighter in the division.
Re: Should Pavlik be ranked above Abraham
Pavlik should be ranked above Abraham but that doesn't mean he is necessarily better. There is a big gap between those 2 and the rest of the division that no matter who else they beat you'll never know for sure who's the best until they fight each other.
My money is on Abraham but with the epic stuggles he has to make weight the fight evens up.

Re: Should Pavlik be ranked above Abraham
After Pavlik beat Taylor my money was on him. After Abraham beat Miranda in the rematch my money was him. After seeing Pavlik and Abraham look unimpressive in their last fights (Abraham moreso) I'm a little stuck on this one. Abraham looks like he is now draining too much, but he might be playing on it bit in order to bait Bob Arum into making the fight (like Haye did with Warren).
Pavlik should be regarded as the number 1 at the moment, Abraham number 2.

Boxing rankings, is there anything more pointless.
They are used for what, exactly?
whats the difference between being ranked 5th and 8th?
Do 5th and 8th ever fight each other?
or 4th and 7th, or 3rd and 5th
no
pointless

Re: Should Pavlik be ranked above Abraham
In these times of multiple champions they are the result of calculating who would rightfully be the champion if common sense prevailed and there was one recgonised champ in each weight division and the order of worthy challengers.
How else do you decide whether Abraham is a better opponent for Pavlik than say Matt Thirwall (or any other MW) if you haven't mentally ranked them?
Surprised you hadn't worked this out for yourself actually.

Made me smile as well. That was a masterstroke from Team Haye. I bet Wazza still wakes up in a cold sweat about being duped over that one. His penchant for putting his fighters in with opponents who are at a disadvantage finally coming back to bite him in the bullet mark.
Re: Should Pavlik be ranked above Abraham
Pavlik is the champion, and thus should be ranked above Abraham, but I believe Abraham would beat Pavlik comfortably.
