Yep. I can see him being knocked down too, but I question Taylor's desire. DiBella has already said that Taylor will likely retire if he loses. To me that doesn't sound too good for Taylor. I have a feeling we will see Pavlik/Taylor II, in terms of how the fight will go.

I liked the look of Pascal - I heard he was a bit soft in the build up to the Froch fight, but he fought well. It's hard to make a comparison on the two, but I will say Taylor is the better of the two, but styles make fights, and Taylor's getting mashed up after round six.

What's you opinion on the fight?

I've got a sneaky feeling Froch wins. however, I've thought for sometime that Taylor must sooner or later hit a moment when his obvious athletic skills are matched by desire/fitness/intangibles etc. and that if/when that happens, someone would be getting laid out.

so far, that moment happened for rd2 of Pavlik (1).

in some ways with his style Froch might be playing into Taylor's hands if he goes balls-out and gung-ho. and if he gets caught wwith a good one he could end up shipping 5-10 more.

but somehow even if that happens i don't think Taylor will keep him down.

feck it i talked myself into Froch TKO mid-late

Personally, I didnt think much of Pascal until i actually stood next to him - he is a big bloke, built like a tank and certainly one of the bigger super middleweights out there.

I can't belive I'm sticking up for Froch :D
He punches harder and he has a better engine imo, I say Taylor runs out of gas easier. These are the only 2 things that he is better at but they are the 2 things that will win the fight.
I'd possibly agree with both of those statements, but I don't think Froch hits as hard as he thinks he does and I don't think he'll set a pace that will both Taylor too much

I also have a feeling this will be a boring fight

if froch is looking to set a fast pace I hope he does it behind some semblance of a jab.

I heard Darren Sutherland was touted as one of many spars to go in with Carl this month.

Not concrete, but a possibility apparently.

I think Froch will win if he boxes him his chin is good but i think he shouldnt try to go to war with him like he did with Pascal because Taylor is cleverer than Pascal and if Froch tries to go to war with him he would comprehensively outbox him and win a wide UD

I agree I think he needs to go about this fight the exact opposite of the fight against Pascal. With Pascal he wore him down early by going to war but then tightened up behind the jab down the stretch, I think he needs to frustrate talor early on with his wingspan and then open up on him when he starts to tire.

I liked the way Froch pounced on Pascal from the first bell and I hope he does the same against Taylor. But I'd then like to see him get on the jab (assuming Taylor is still vertical after the opening assault).

At the end of Carls career nobody is going to be left in any doubt of how good he was, good or bad. Froch and Haye are guiding lights in how this sport should develop to keep the likes of UFC in their rightful place.
I have to agree, Froch is willing to take on danger men to prove he is the best, so full credit to him for that. I have to say though, I think Taylor will prove a bit too much. You never can tell, its all to do with styles. Taylor beat Hopkins twice who beat Pavlik, but Pavlik beat Taylor twice. Its interesting because both Taylor and Froch can both bang, and either one is capable of taking the other out. Its true World level now for Froch and the opponents dont fall over so easily, and hit a lot harder. I will be shouting for Froch from my armchair.

Taylor has a bigger wingspan and is faster. I think Froch should dictate the pace (as fast as Froch can handle) and box him. There will be openings. Taylor's defence is not the best and his stamina can't handle a fast pace.

I just watched the Pascal fight again and it strikes me that froch may do better fighting away from home because he will not get pulled into that macho bollox looking for a KO in front of his home crowd.

Back in his early BBC "Carl The Cobra" days I thought he was a total gobshite. But the guy backs up what he says and I think he has a great attitude. Nice guy and I wish him well. :box: :TU:

Taylor is not a 'fighter' inmy book.

All thos efights against blown up Welters ( Spinks) and Light Middles (Ouma and MANY others ) masked his true self.

Frich is a big strong SM and aoart from Lacy ( who really should be at Middle ) who has he fought? And do not say Hopkins, it was obvious that he took advantage if Hopkins energy eficent sytle and niclked the points, in my book the 1st fight WAS A DRAW and Hopkins won the 2nd.

As someone said, Taylor quits on his stool or gets ktfo.

Maybe I was hearing things,

But i recall when Taylor was set to fight Hopkins, that the commentator said something like Taylor had not even lost a round in his career to date.

I think that might have been true at that point. Joppy was definitely a shut out. Taylor doesn't seem to get much respect around here and I can't understand why. The guy fought 24 rounds vs Hopkins, Winky Wright in his second defence (after Winky dominated SSM twice and a seemingly rejuvenated Tito) then made a few easy defences before fighting Pavlik.

It says a lot that he went straight back in against Pavlik. No little prince syndrome.

This is a fantastic match.

In retrospect JT always fought smaller guys on the way up -- I can remember quite a few career lightmiddles being fed to him before the Hopkins fight & he's always looked like a Goddamned light-heavy to me. I remember him looking so devastating at the time, but I think it was a tiny bit of a false dawn.

However, I actually like the lad, but he frustrates me. TerryD said it the best, during the second Pavlik fight I think: "He's a better boxer than Kelly, but he's obviously not quite the fighter I thought he was" (my emphasis).

That said -- & big-ups to Frock for going over & trying to do a bit of a Nigel Benn! -- I do think he'll beat Carl; too slick & mobile. Frocky will need to (intelligently) give Taylor some stick late in the fight to slow him down. I think Carl could well break his heart late on, but I don't think Frocky hits quite hard enough or clean enough to put him away a la Pavlik. CF has to jab his way in & whale away to the body without getting done with one of those big counters, because Taylor's improved his left hook in that respect, he's no longer so much of a one-two guy.

Taylor to hang on after a torrid last few rounds, wider on the cards than it actually looks. But I shall be cheering for Frocky all the way.

Yeah no coincidence it's while they are trying to sell it to TV networks. This is going to be a corking fight and I can't pick a winner but I'm leaning towards Froch (if he gets his tactics right).

you have to admire froch for going to the states for his first title defence. it would have been easy im sure to fight a lesser opponent in his home town especially when the talks seemed to hit a snag. i hope he brings the belt back home. its good that he is talking about fighting the other top super middleweights. the more good and competitive fights we get to see the better.
