Prizefighter...needs a re-think

Yep, I think what's been said about Gilmour "showcasing" some of his boxers came through loud and clear.

I like Gilmour, but this wasn't what Prizefighter was meant to be about. I'm just glad this was demoted to a Tuesday rather than the weekend slot.

I thought it odd that Barry Hearn seemed almost entirely absent from this show, I missed the first 20 minutes, but during the bit I watched, the only mug I saw was Gilmour. It was almost as if Hearn was franchising the brand to Scotland, and I noticed Gilmour was talking about the cruiserweight one as if he was involved in it.

Has Gilmour joined forces with Hearn? Does anyone know?

Anyone know what happens in the event of a drawn fight in Prizefighter?

I was thinking it could easily happen. Fighter A scores a knockdown in Round 1 but Fighter B wins the next 2 rounds 10-9 and voila you have your draw.

If memory serves this nearly happened in the first final between Rogan and Dolan until Dolan (who had won the 2nd after being knocked down in the opener) got hurt again in the 3rd.

Think it'd go to the person with the knockdown.

oh, and agree entirely - this latest show was awful. i'd sooner it finish now if that's the best they can put on.

Agree with a lot of the posts. The other night was terrible featuring four fighters with the same manager, I think (Were the Scot kids all Gilmour's fellas). Very poor quallity for live televised sport at 8pm. It needs experienced bangers who go over to work. The cruiserweight one looks good, but I still think it has it's course.

it has reached the end because everyone knows how to win it now what tactics to use and usualy the most experianced amatures win becasue they are used to shorter distances and can pace tehmselves accordingly and have prob fought closer togetehr than pros with limited amature background

dont believe its reached the end just needs to look at weight divisions, punters want 3 rounds of brutal, toe to toe where one punch can finish it. SMW and above would be ideal. Would be nice if 'top-dogs' were made to compete cos Sky fees would be worth Enzo v Herbie. People said Big Brother would never last but while there are fans/Sky/advertising Prizefighter will continue

I didn't even know there was one on Tuesday. It's a great format that's been saturated and spoiled. Why not have one every 3-4 or even 6 months, give us something to look forward to and maintain a healthy interest.

Part of the appeal also of pretty much ALL the other Prizefighters is there are some "names" in it. Even if they are past it (as in Paul Samuels' case). This was like a "prospect" prizefighter, and it didn't just feel right.
