Sergio Martinez has been avoided, Howard Eastman had a spell in which nobody with a ranking seemed to want to fight him.

There are some fighters, who it might have been of their own doing, but never got a mention by the "more celebrated" names... like Ottke, and Alexander Dimentrenko could be going through a similar thing now.

Yes, I know it was majorly Ottke's reluctance to fight out of Germany, but still he didn't even get a mention by the likes of Hopkins, RJJ etc. At least they mentioned Joe a few times. Hell, even Ring Magazine avoided awarding Sven with the ring belt

Dimentrenko is ranked high by all the big organisations - yet I see Haye, Arreola and a few others (even Rogan now) getting mentioned by the big name fighters. Dimitrenko doesn't get a mention.

Seems to be two types of avoidance though, although with obvious cross-overs (they aren't mutually exclusive); avoided because you aren't very well known and avoided because people are scared of losing to you.

Bada bing! Not sure if he counts as being in the last ten years, but any chance to remember who totally freakin' awesome the Body Snatcher was is worth while.

He's even better than sharks with frickin' lasers.

His precise destruction of Trinidad is one of the most complete performances i have ever witnessed.

Sure Hatton has made it clear he doesn`t want to give him a pay day .. not too sure being avoided by one guy really makes him `Most Avoided`??

mathew barney .. for various reason that usually apply to most awkward types that get the label :(

Remember, no one wanted to fight Witter for the British hence the lonsdale belt being given to him.

Hatton ducked him all his life.

Hopkins RAN like a dog.

There are others.

:D
I agree he was too good for the majority of very ordinary domestic guys about then for some time. But to base the argument on Hatton who had absolutely nothing to gain, and was making more money and bigger headlines in the USA ... and a guy who only really had a famous uncle rather than any pedigree on the world stage .. well, sorry DG but your argument loses momentum

Witter I feel has gained a cult following solely off Hattons back .. sure Hatton didn`t/doesn`t want to fight him ... too much to lose and too little to gain ... and those are the exact reasons why Witter hasn`t taken up Ajose Olusegun`s challenge.... :TU:
