i think its generally accepted that we speak about british and irish fighters here because they are often linked and fight for british titles and so on.

Irish Times refered to Caballero as "the IBF champion." No mention that he's also the true WBA holder, also!

I watched Dunne-Cordoba all the way through. I did not hear any of the commentators explain the WBA situation, that Cordoba was regular champ and that Caballero is super champ.

That's pretty poor, that is. If Sky were arse licking Khan, they would have explained all the alphabet soup, if he was in a similar situation.

yes, this is without doubt - I am have been slaughtered on an Irish website for mentioning it.

Not one mention of Caballero in the Irish media or the fact that Dunnes title in a glorified interim title.

If Peters can put on this Dunne-Vazquez fight, though, and if Dunne were able to get the win, he'd be regarded above Caballero. That would be a smart move, IF they can get Vazquez, and beat what is left of Vazquez.

You think I am bitter just because I didn't start a thread about Ricardo Cordoba? If so then you're the bitter one, because if you read my opening post, I applauded Dunne for his win, but that win, for me, doesn't justify him being called a genuine world champion.

it would enable Dunne to rise above the "he isn't champ, he is champ" controversy. It would also mean he wouldn't have to fight the big, awkward, difficult Caballero.

Technically, Vazquez could be outjabbed or outsped. Also, Vazquez may have very little left after such a series of punishing fights.

I'm not sure where the fight would be. Somewhere in America where Irish-Americans would turn up to see Dunne? Could they get Vazquez to Ireland?

I think Peters did say that's the fight he wants, though whether or not it's true is another matter. Looks like Dunne's ppl had to make a brave choice fighting Cordoba, which paid off. Might there be another bold gamble?

If it were to be in america it should be on the east coast if you was to get the irish americans, maybe msg.

thats the thing, I dont think he means it - for the next fight anyway that is.

Munroe, Martinez, Steve Molitor or Olivier Lontchi are far more likely.

definitely. IF they have time to fit one in before Poonsawat, I wouldn't be surprised if it was someone less than Munroe/Martinez. Someone Euro level, that no one's heard of, that they can talk up due to flashy record. Someone that Dunne would look dominant against. Dunne + title will be the draw, not the opponent. Someone competitive, light hitter, that the commentators can dress up as "whourld class". (This is what boxing has taught me to expect, anyway.)

I believe in Dunne after the win over Cordoba. Cordoba's young, in his prime, experienced for his age, hard as nails, difficult. That is a bleeding good win.

If they could land Vazquez, that would be excellent, and not as out of reach as some would think. I reckon Vazquez is at the stage where he cashes out.
