Good stuff cant wait, I like Gomez but he acts like a thug not a sportsman. What were the racists comments that michaels trainer was on about at the end? Was that bouncer the guy who fought audley and got dq'd and does a lot of unlicensed stuff, whats his name?
Whos everyone got in this fight ? Id love to see the Gomez that turned up against arthur

Could it be in relation to his travelling back round? The last thing i heard was a scottish voice saying "go back and sleep in your car"

I think it was one if Ricky Burns people, possibly Alex Morrison allegedly said something because that is who Kevin Maree said something to about racism. Dare says it was the old 'English bar steward' type of remark, hardly stuff ti get upset about

Dominic Negus was the security guy.

I want Gomez to win but had to back Burns at 7/4 to win inside the distance

What does "english bar steward" mean? I would have thought it would have been an irish joke.

Perhaps it was an reference to Gomez's Irish parentage. English bar steward = English bastard

You can set your watch by Gomez....come press conference time you know he's going to explode :) . It's all about drumming up interest and let's face it, Ricky Burns needs the publicity than Gomez generates.

I used to hate Gomez's behaviour but now I realise, he's just a very colourful character and more than plays his part in getting people to tune in.

Burns should be durable enough to withstand the expected early rush from Gomez and use his skill and fitness to get the win.

looks like we might actually have a decent friday fight night. one thing gomez always brings is entertainment, along with carl thompson he has been one of my favourite british fighters to watch over the last 10 years or so.

i noticed in the press conference, gomez referred to himself as a gypo, was there an outcry on a thread a month ago because someone used this word.

Is gypo not just a variation on the word gypsy? Theres a soccer team in ireland nicknamed the gypsys and no one has a problem with it.

Burns stops Gomez mid-late

by the way- I can't help wondering just how easily Gomez gets to the weight nowadays? seems to have been there forever and didn't look overweight when he fought khan at LW

Gomez called himself a Gyppo anwyay didnt he, watch the start of Part One and he says the Gyppo shines or something along those lines.

After a pretty boring main event last week, this fight promises a lot. Gomez always entertains, I can see him having a real go in the first few rounds and he'll trouble Burns. I am a big Gomez fan but Burns has enough experience and he'll outbox Gomez and stop him because I honestly dont think Gomez has it in him to go 12 anymore.

I was thinking the same thing about Burns! Notice how Gomez started drinking something as soon as he got off the scales?

Burns is very tall indeed for the weight!

I think Gomez is shot and getting his last paydays off Warren tbh. However Burns isn't a great fighter himself so it's closer than the last 2 big fights Gomez has had vs Khan and Johanneson.

I still take the younger, fitter, less mileage Burns to beat Gomez either by points or later rounds stoppage. Gomez has proven to me that he can no longer get past about 6 rounds in a tough fight so I very much doubt he will be able to do 12 rounds against Ricky Burns. He certainly sounds and looks like he's had a really tough career, talks a bit more slurred these days and his face always looks a bit reddened and flush.

Its been reported that Alex Morrison called Gomez an 'Irish tinker'

Some good quotes here.

"I am that good that they are making films of me and writing books about me," declared Gomez at one point. He then announced that he is going to make Burns pay for "disrespecting" him: Burns had said that he intends to add to his extensive body art with a tattoo depicting him standing over a beaten Gomez once he has made a successful second defence of his crown.

"He Burns is a little f***ing idiot and I will smash his face in," warned Gomez. "I am writing you off now, you little p****. You are stepping down a level are you, you f***ing muppet?"

While Gomez went out of his way to be abusive with use of foul language, Burns refused to respond in kind.

"This doesn't affect me one little bit," he said. "I am not getting drawn into any of this nonsense. If he wants to turn this into a circus, it is up to him.

"Tomorrow night there will be no place for him to go. If the fight lasts 12 rounds, fine. But I cannot see it going past eight. I have a few tricks up my sleeve and Michael can only fight one way. He will come charging in."

Gomez advised Burns that he should do his homework before making such statements and was told by the 26-year-old Scot that he will be making a huge mistake if he tries to box his way to the title, Gomez muttered: "Oh fella, fella, fella, you're full of s***. If you want a fight, let's have one. Run rabbit, run rabbit, run rabbit, run!"

At least Gomez paid Burns the compliment of admitting: "He's a good fighter and I have not prepared like this since I fought another Scot, Ian McLeod. It will be a tough 12 rounds."
