Yes he did, a rematch would be pointless IMO.

If Calzaghe is still going to move to light heavyweight why keep the WBO title and defend against Veit, someone he's already blown away in 1 round. He's unlikely to do better and will just recieve a mass of criticism.

Ditch the title, and get a nice ranking at light heavyweight and at least fight a top 10 contender. Richard Hall, Julio Gonzalez etc...

Am also right in thinking that with the WBO, a champion is allowed to jump weight and automatically contend for the higher belt.

So wouldn't the Erdei have been an option or couldn't they have got a fight with Tiozzo? Captuing the WBA belt?

Just two options that would have helped Calzaghe's LH cause.

It strikes me there is far more to this than money and injuries. I wonder whether Calzaghe is anywhere near mentally ready for a STEP-UP bout?
