W. Klitschko Vs David Haye (Signed)?
W. Klitschko Vs David Haye (Signed)?
Former cruiserweight world champion and current heavyweight contender David Haye was a live guest on Steve Bunce's Boxing Hour today on Setanta T.V. Guess what "The Hayemaker" spoke about!? As tired as everyone else when it has come to the seemingly endless delay in getting the big fight he wants with IBF and WBO champ Wladimir made official, Haye said today that the fight is, at last, on.
Asked point-blank on today's news show if the fight will be announced officially next week and that he will be in intense training next week, Haye replied, "Yes." So, at last, the fans can get ready to look forward to what is potentially one of the most exciting heavyweight title fights in some years. Haye said today he will have approx twelve to thirteen weeks to train, sure is he that the much talked about June 20th date is the one that will host the anticipated rumble..
Haye was first asked if the fight was at last all done and dusted.
"All the stumbling blocks are over now," Haye said. "Everything, everything, has been agreed. All it's about now is the Klitschko people sending me the contract so I can sign it and send it back. That's it."
The challenger said he feels the fight will take place in Germany, but that this does not bother him in the slightest.
"I think it's gonna be in Germany, sure he's [Wladimir] going to want all the advantages," Haye said. "But I don't care where the fight's at. I'll fight in Germany, Ukraine, it doesn't bother me. As long as it's Wlad in the ring and a referee who can count to ten I'm a happy man."
"The Hayemaker" went on to explain just why he is so massively confident he can beat "Dr. Steel Hammer."
"I know exactly what Wladimir's style is, I know what his attributes are," Haye explained. "I know why he's been so effective for so many years and I know the strategy to beat him. This is going to be one of my easiest fights. I know it sounds crazy, but I've studied this guy for a long time and I know exactly what to do to whup him. I'm not only going to whup him, I'm going to look good doing it.
"I like the fact that some people think I need more fights [at heavyweight[ before going into a world title shot, but that's what's going to make this fight a lot more exciting. It will mean that much more, the fact that I've come straight up from cruiserweight and that's it; I'm gonna blast out the number-one in the world."
Haye was then asked if going over to Germany for the fight is risky, what with the judges and everything. Typically, Haye said the fight will not go the distance anyway, making the scoring officials redundant.
"Twenty-one of my twenty-two wins have come by knockout," Haye said. "I'm not looking at going the distance. No way. I'll be surprised if this fight goes past six rounds - unless Wladimir gets some sort of chin operation to toughen it out. Unless he gets some steel implants in his chin!
"As soon as my fists start connecting with his head the fight's over."
Why do I feel Haye's comments will attract a bunch of comments by his fans and a whole lot more from those who don't like him!?
The main thing, though, is the fact that we can at last start to look forward to a heavyweight battle that is sure to be explosive! It's about time.

Re: W. Klitschko Vs David Haye (Signed)?
I say it sounds liiiiike... No Deal.
What Haye is doing here, I suspect, is the old Sir Humphrey trick: "It's true because I saw it on the telly".
I’ll believe it’s on when I see a press conference announcing the event with Wlad sitting innanely, smiling a vapid nervous smile as the loquacious Haye rants.
Meantime, there's something that’s always bothered me about Wlad's nickname. Dr Steel Hammer. Dr Steel Hammer. It's so clumsy. It can only be said impressively with an outrageous, deep voiced teutonic accent. Try it.
But there's more. Really, steel, in this sense, seems like a redundant adjective. Steel is hard, so is good for boxing, and what's more it's and is used in -ly adjective form to mean hard, and determined and unwavering. All good; but then, do you really need that added boost to hammer, which is already a hard thing used for striking a heaver blow than the normal fist could manage? Does steel in this context do any of the things an adjective is meant to do? Does it describe, qualify, or clarify the noun? Do I need to be told it's steel? "Like, steel as opposed to what normal hammers are made of?", I might ask. Errrr… Sponge? Flesh? It’s just redundant sitting there, steel.
I suppose they perhaps do need to add something to hammer, because afterall, plain old Dr Hammer sounds like MC Hammer's more educated brother. Although, I can imagine the 90s, just post-communist Wlad, with his mullet, Irkutsk-made marble wash Amerikanskiy Dzhinsy, white socks and Byelorussian patent leather penny loafers, going by the name of Dr Hammer. "Khemmer Tayme!" he would shout on entering the gym.
But they could have gone for something beyond the equivalent of saying “I’d like a plastic toothbrush” or “a metal car”. Something that actually adds to hammer, something that indicated that hammer doesn’t justify the power in those fists, something like Dr Tungston Hammer (for t'Yorkshire Klitschkur); Dr Diamond Hammer (For the Klitschko who used that fine, ‘roided physique for adult entertainment).
But Dr Steel Hammer is just clumsy and makes him sound like one of Aethelred the Unready's sons. You know: believed to have led a Viking expedition from the Faroes to Nova Scotia in 956; renowned for his fighting hammer made of unusually tough metal thought by modern historians to be naturally occurring steel; physician.
Really, though, I guess the moniker matches the man: clumsy, gracelessly effective, partially redundant.
Which is why I hope this gets on, because the Klitschkos are without doubt the worst recognized heavyweight champions ever in the history of the whole wide universe. Of course, there have been heavyweight belt holders who stank like a vomit stained carpet, but Vitaliy and Wlad are between them recognized by most as The Man. Some recognize one; some the other, but the fact remains that one Klitschko has been seen as number one in the division really since Lennox retired.
And that sucks.
Lovely guys – perhaps the nicest in boxing – but just being nice doesn’t stop me from wanting to see their robotic, one dimensional white asses swept off the map like the Werhmacht before Zhukov’s onslaught.
Really, they need to go, and I think Haye can do it.
OK, that's my bizarro mood worked out. Bedtime.

Dr Steel Hammer is indeed an atrocious nickname, but not as bad as his brother's "Dr Iron Fist", which conjures up terrifying scenes in Berlin toilet cubicles.

Dear God, the Germans have some strange sexual practices. (Unless the German pornography industry has lied to me all these years.) Them and the Japanese.nobby_nobbins wrote:Dr Steel Hammer is indeed an atrocious nickname, but not as bad as his brother's "Dr Iron Fist", which conjures up terrifying scenes in Berlin toilet cubicles.
What is it about being awesomely efficient and f\/cked up sex? It's almost as if the ability to make brilliant cars, build industrial powerhouse economies, and craft armies awesome enough to take on several powerful foes at once goes hand in glove with sexual wierdness.
Bukkake, anyone? Those vomiting Japanese chicks? Germans: leather, old women, men with moustasches, nudist camps in the middle of city parks?
Maybe that they're so busy being industious and hard working and efficient that they need something truly arrestng to grab their attention.

Re: W. Klitschko Vs David Haye (Signed)?
Mosley is further proof of German sexual wierdness. Obviously, he's British, but his dad really wanted to be German. So much so he called his son Max. There is something distinctly homo-erotic and BDSM about Nazi-ism: the uniforms, the haircuts, the trussed up neatness of it all. Like, wasn't the SA -- whose brown shirts Max's dad modeled his organization on -- basically a nest of homosexuality and perversion right up to and including the leader, Ernst Rohm? They were what Baden Powell probably dreamed of.Emerson Poncey Name Ghent wrote:Their manager is now Max Mosley.Carbo wrote:Dear God, the Germans have some strange sexual practices. Not that I have anything against Homosexuals, but Nazi-ism does have a history of attracting that.
Yeah... Max might be British, but his pig of a father made sure he was brought up as a Nazi German.

At least the Japanese chicks are hotter when they do all that sick stuff.
Re: W. Klitschko Vs David Haye (Signed)?
The nudist places in the middle of German cities is (a) correct and (b) somewhat bizarre. When I lived in Germany, I went for a quiet bathing experience in Baden-Baden (so good they named it twice), and wandered out of the Gents changing room to be confronted by 20 naked German birds, half of whom were gorgeous. I'm not knocking it, but it knocked me....

When the contract has been signed then we can look forward to the fight - its definitely one dave can win and I sincerely hope he does - just didn't want the fight to happen in Germany.
Lets hope when the lawyers read the "small print" - there are indeed as mentioned "no stumbling" blocks - I am sure there wont be and it will be a fight that the boxing fans can genuinally look forward to.
Out of the Klitschko's it was definitely "Wlad" I wanted David to fight - if The Hayemaker can get inside the jab then Wlad will not last even 3 rounds.
Its going to be a very very short fight - whoever connects first.

Re: W. Klitschko Vs David Haye (Signed)?
I think Haye fancies it because Wlad jabs and then takes a step back. I reckon he plans on charging at him and getting in at close range. I see it 60/40 in Wlads favour but if Haye can avoid Wlads bombs he may be in with a chance.
Re: W. Klitschko Vs David Haye (Signed)?
It will be a pain fighting Wlad in Germany.
Wlad gets away with holding, and when the opponent breaks free, he actually turns his back. He should get penalised for doing that. But he won't.

Re: W. Klitschko Vs David Haye (Signed)?
if this fight get signed and its in germany (met my wife there and love the place so won't slag it off too much) then i see another Robin Reid v Sven Ottke, in fact like most Ottke fights the judges can't see beyond the ring apron to what is really happening. I know he went to France to beat Mormeck but this is different. If Haye can't get deal done then don't see where his career is really going, no point going around fighting the Klitschko brothers rejects while they take voluntary and mandatory fights to avoid him, and really don't want to see him dominate domestic division first
Re: W. Klitschko Vs David Haye (Signed)?
Which city is it meant to be in? Hopefully one of the nice ones eg Berlin, Munich rather than the bleak industrial ones eg Mannheim or Hanover.

I would love it to be Mannheim personally. I only live a 15min. train ride away. No need for me to be selfish tho
