Hardened gauze pads confiscated from Antonio Margarito’s hand wraps contained calcium and sulfur, two of the primary elements of plaster of Paris, according to tests by a California State Department of Justice laboratory it has been reported by the LA Times. State supervising deputy attorney general Karen Chappelle told the paper that the State Athletic Commission’s decision to suspend Margarito and his trainer Javier Capetillo appear to be supported by the findings.

Yep, it doesn't make sense to how he'd do it against a man who was considered washed up after his last round win over Mayorga but wouldn't have done it before.pasty_spud wrote:you've gotta think it's something he's done before have'nt you?

Re: Official Margarito wraps findings.
if i was cotto id want an investigation or something
Re: Official Margarito wraps findings.
They are investigating all they can, they can't do anything about the Cotto fight because nothing suspicious was found at the Cotto fight, unfortunately unless Cottos team can prove there was something suspicious with Margaritos wraps from their fight then that result will stand.neil hibbert wrote:if i was cotto id want an investigation or something

Pfft, if he had plaster of paris in the Cotto fight they would of found out. It took hundreds of shots and 11 rounds to stop Cotto too. He would of stopped Cotto earlier if he had loaded gloves.

Re: Official Margarito wraps findings.
In the fight with Cotto, Margarito took WAY more shots than Cotto. Cotto sustained a broken nose in round four, and then seemed to physically fall apart.
Cotto didn't take hundreds of shots at all. For the first six rounds he took very little at all, and it wasn't until the 8th that he was really under fire. At the time plenty of commentators commented on how quickly Cotto seemed to break down.
It is highly unlikely that if Margarito's trainer did this for Mosley, who was considered to be past it, they wouldn't do it for Cotto, who was still unbeaten and also favourite going into the fight with Margarito.
I'm not sure what should be done, but I think that the following would be an option.
A ban for life
A ban for two years.
A ban on competing for a world title ever again. This is rather like olympic suspension for athletes caught taking performance enhancing drugs.
