Soliman IBF number 1

Sam Soliman beat old conquerer Ray Joval in USA last night.
This was an IBF eliminator apparently.

As many of you know Sam boxed over here for a couple of years but got no love or respect from any of the promoters.

Well done Sammy!!! Gotta feel for Joval too, the guy has been waiting a long time to get a big fight and it looks like it came too late...

It would be somewhat Ironic if Soliman gets a title shot somehow, despite having lost to Eastman in the past.

Anyone care to give a brief description of the Soliman/Eastman fight, needless to say i havent seen it but im interested to hear how it played out.

Difference being Sam lost to Joval , he lost to Eastman he's had 14 fights since losing to Joval Sam has challenged Joval to a rematch he offered Eastman a rematch , he was willing to fight in there backyards in the first place and was content to rematch Eastman in britain , all to no avail.

In other words Sam Solliman has kept busy fighting anyone anywhere , Eastman has sat on his arse not wanting to take a risk, pretty much sums up the British fight scene all round though.

Winner off DLH -Hopkins has to fight Sam by early next year , won't suprise me if Eastman wants to accept a rematch now. Won't be suprised at the answer either my guess his it should be a quietly spoken Fack off.

I was at the Eastman fight but cannot even remember too much about it

Soliman lost by a couple of rounds on the referees card which was probably a fair reflection of the fight....

Eastman just did enough cleaner work although he was never comfortable at any stage in the fight.

I remember Sam jumping all over him in the last round desperate to hold on to his title. Sam was probably a bit green at the time.

Neither fighter was ever in any trouble although Sam got a cut from a headclash...

Yep, Eastman is going nowhere by the looks of things, continually calling out Hopkins just won't work, he has to beat everyone around Hopkins, take out some big American names and make a name for himself to even have a chance of getting a shot before Hop retires.

I agree, sitting around asking for a Hopkins fight is not going to work, Eastman needs to get more active, in fact i would go far enough to say that his chance of a big fight has passed him by now. Soliman is a tough fighter and deserves his shot at the Middleweight crown. Coneye makes some good points, but please add a few full stops and commas next time mate

He'd had the backing from an early age e.t.c, e obviously has the talent and has learned his trade the tough way. Good luck to him....

I hear that HBO won't Soliman v Talyor and the winner to fight Hopkins or DLH earily next year,This is great for Sam.He will get a nice pay day for the Talyor fight and has a chance of winning it.

I was hoping Stuart Duncan wouldnt mind me using the pics from his site.... I mentioned where they were from so everyone knew.
At the end of the day i am promoting Sam, promoting Stuarts website and not making any financial gain myself.....I'd like to think that was OK

Nice pics. It really is a superb win for Soliman, I thought Joval looked very good against Hernandez earlier this year. The apparent ease with which the Aussie dismantled him has suprised me.

There is nothing wrong with using photographs so long as they are credited, and as knockout says it is promoting both the site and Sam Soliman, so what's the problem? There aren't enough users on this forum at any one time to make the bandwidth an issue.
