right first of all the dodson quigley fight was a testament to boxing, one of those fights where you have everything, dodson impressed me because he loked gone in the 2nd round i think it was, then came back, quigley has this habit of goin missing in fights for a while and it almost cost him, i said to my mate hell come back oin the last 2 rounds and thats what he did, also suprised ho good his chin was because he got hit with some good clean power punches. great fight and a great nite.

second is the derry matthews fight, i said to my friend that that ref is a joke because on the jamie moore undercard, he gave 2 absolutly shocking decisions out, 1 was to give paulie hyland the win when he was at least 3 roiunds sown and the 2nd was to give mick robinson a draw against ross burkinshaw when he clearly won 3 rounds out of the 4, also derry was pushed over not punched, even thought he was hurt he was in a fit state to continue, also with the george groves fight he made a bad decision so think he shud be scrutinised for being a terrible ref. also the big lad mouthning off was rather entertaining imo because the delay between fights took the piss and he was funny to watch

This is Matthews you mean, I assume? :)

Yeah, I'd say you are right - he went down and his corner, who will know their man well, suggested he take the 8.
No, sorry, I was responding to the "how did the cut happen" - Dodson's cut in the second.

I know Tony Dod personally and he's not a quitter he's got a lot of bottle and showed that last night..I really feel for him cos I think he was mis-directed in the corner going out for the last round..They should have told him he was ahead and to go and move around and not get involved but no they said win the last round! :witzend: ! Quigley done really well he really did cos Dod had him gone a few times and the bell saved him too in the 7th or 8th I think it was?? He answered a lot of questions..

Quig shouldn't go anywhere near Magee though!! The guy is all wrong for him,Southpaw,Fit,Bags of 12 round experience,Survivor and also decent workrate!! All them things will be too much for Quig.. I now think the perfect match is Smith Vs Quig or Dod Vs Quig II??? Liverpool's boxing scene will go from strength to strength after that enthralling match up last night..

Finally I'd like to say for all the people who go on about Tony Dodson being this and that to take a min and realise what he went through last night..Cut,Dropped tierd and after 11 rounds was still there and was winning too in my opinion!! People have called him over the years and give him stick hopefully the same people will say you know what I was wrong the kids got balls, heart and is a proper gent!!!

Dodson hit Quig with a brilliant punch too, early in the 10th (I think) that could have been a fight stopper, but Quig took it brilliantly. At some points in that fight a more cautious ref might even have stopped the fight.

This fight too is good proof of why refs shouldn't stop fight stoo early. Quig was surely a mile behind on points, but pulled it out of the bag brilliantly in the 12th.

Yes, I know what you mean. Dodson was down and hurt in round two, and cut, a bad ref might have choosen to stop it there.

Should add that the ref should have stopped the fight after Dodsons second knockdown in round 12 - at that point that was the right time I think. This late in a bout, with a fighter who has been down twice, that is a very dangerous time.

I agree with that..This is the time when your most likely to get a nasty injury..God bless Tony is ok now..I know he is a bit gutted BUT he always puts a brave face on he really does..He's a proper mans man..He'll be made up to see everyone on here commenting on how good a fight it was!! :TU:

Yeah, Tony Dodson I'm sure will bounce back -he is still only in his 20s, after all- I look forward to his comeback fight.

With a bit of planning I'm sure they could use that arena again after the successful show last night.

Rematch I'd say is most likely, but then there are other options too- Paul David, Paul Smith I'd say are strong possibilities.

Tony Dodson is a true Warrior I felt for him. Got to hand it to Tony Quig though he pulled it out of the bag. Congrats to both MEN on a great fight.

An absolute epic that will go down as A Merseyside boxing classic.

A lot of praise is being dedicated to Dodson, and rightly so, but thed way Quigley came back into that fight in the last 2 rounds was mesmerising. I watched the recorded version when i returned home from the fight and i couldnt believe Woodhall's card. I give Dodson every round apart from the 2nd and 11th. i was even tempted to give him a 10-8 in round 6. Thought Quigley was very economic with his workrate, he had spells were he threw nothin , but when he did let them go, they always seemed to find the target.

An unforgettable experience, and without a shadow of doubt, the best live fight i have ever seen.

i thoroughly enjoyed the fight, big time respect to both warriors in a fantastic fight, lots of guts and heart, everything that a british title fight should be....

but......

are we buttering quigley up too much, and did he beat a faded dodson. im not saying this is factual, and all will be revealed when quigley tackles magee. if magee wins easily then we know a half decent domestic guy (quigley) beat a faded ex top domestic guy (dodson)...

now...if im wrong and quigley wipes the floor with magee, then quigley really does have the potential to go a long way in this game, i like his attitude, his skills and his emotions.

well done both fellas, great fight.. :box:
