I hope it's on ITV - I will be away that weekend with work, and am staying in a hotel that doesn't have Setanta. If ITV don't get the fight then I will most likely miss it. And if that happens then I am going to be a little bit peeved. I blame DG, the twit.

Good, My main problem with sky is the amount of time they spend on promotion, but i suppose it works . For me unlike sky itv change it around and keep it interesting . Its great when they do a tour of the backstage area, did anyone see the one of the york hall .

I like the tour of the backstage sometimes, but they need a better interviewer and he needs to be less in people's faces cos he's downright strange.

I'm not into this lets interview a fighter 10 minutes before he goes to fight to be honest, backstage = good, but at the right time. e.g. in Froch's last fight they were pestering him about 10 mins before the fight and I was very surprised Forch's team let them in that close to the fight.

I feel the same about interviewing a fighter so soon before the fight. I say show a bit of footage of them arriving at the venue then leave them alone until the post fight interview. I think it builds up the fight more if you don't know what's going on in their dressing room just before the fight. There is more suspense.

ITV had the Calzaghe v Lacy fight on live in the early hours, why not the same for Froch?

I am in England that weekend, staying at my mums house. She doesn`t have sky/setanta like I do over here. If it`s not on ITV I will have to find an all night drinking hole to watch it in.

Are pubs still showing the big fights in the UK? What if it`s pay per view?

I will be in Wakefield (West Yorkshire), if anyone knows what pubs show the boxing, give us a shout.

Three reasons-Froch isn't as big a draw as Calzaghe
This isn't as big a fight as Calzaghe v Lacy
And the most important one of them all-itv are broke and are (slowly) getting rid of all sports that aren't Football. The F1 has already gone, the Boxing went then came back. By the end of this year I don't expect itv to be showing Touring Cars, Cycling and Boxing.

A shame, as I do enjoy Hennessy's shows on itv once a month except that I can't stand Gabriel Clarke and seriously don't understand why he appears to be such a well respected journalist.

Worst moment for him was during the Thaxton v Mezache fight interviews. Not only did he call Mezache's manager French when he was Swiss, Clarke even tried to translate what Mezache was saying, when his manager was doing a dam fine job of it. Hence you've got 3 people talking at the same time, 2 of them translating what Mezache is saying. Clarke must have thought it a chance to impress the viewers with his French, but he came across as a right tit.

Oh, and the usual Frank Spencer bumbling and stuttering through the dressing rooms all the time when he forgets what he is going to ask.

Rob Walker in that role would be great, Gabriel Clarke, no.

Back on topic, I'd be pretty sure Setanta will show the fight, and sort out the deal at the very last minute to save some money. They aren't exactly rolling in the money either.

It won't be live on itv. In all the previous interviews with Froch on itv over the last month never once has it been mentioned "And you'll see Froch defending blah blah blah here on itv1 on april 25th"

Odd though that the one broadcaster with the money and the pull to show the fight, aren't interested at all-Sky.

It's worrying that an article I read the other day seemed to be suggesting that Setanta are in quite a lot of financial trouble.

That's a real shame as they are about the best coverage we've got for boxing right now.

The more boxing on TV the better IMO.

Personally I hope ITV get Froch's fight, even if it is delayed, because Carl deserves as much exposure as possible.

Really bad for British boxing. Anyone want to argue with me now that Froch is not the major star he should be?
I am prepared to wait a little while before writing him off as a "non star". How long was Joe a champion before he was a star.

Lets give Henessey and Froch some credit... He is fighting one of the few known names in the States, prime time live on one of the most respected boxing channels in the states - how long before Calzaghe did this. Alot older than 31! and Froch was a late starter with less talent (IMO) and less going for him (Joe good looking with Italian roots).

Buts in a good display in this fight, then we will see if he is a star. John Duddy isn't getting UK TV fights often, but he is more of a name in the "global" boxing community than the likes of Paul Smith, Barker, Macklin etc.

Ahhh!!!! At last someone has twigged to what I have been banging on about!!!

Started this thread a while back ....

Boxing - TV & The Internet!!!

On an extremely serious note - I sincerely hope things do not go pop at Setanta - they have been fantastic about boxing - but the simple facts are as crazy as all of us are about boxing there quite simply is not enough of us boxing fans - the main revenue for Setanta will come from football fans and losing one of the contracts to showcase football was not good for Setanta.

I hope things work out - I will repeat Setanta have been fantastic for boxing.

I was at university when I was 18, now I am working as a sales rep in IT. But of course, I may be lying.

I wasn't at university for three years, then lived with my girlfriend for 18 months - it is possible that they intertwined, you smuck.
