i thoroughly enjoyed the fight, big time respect to both warriors in a fantastic fight, lots of guts and heart, everything that a british title fight should be....

but......

are we buttering quigley up too much, and did he beat a faded dodson. im not saying this is factual, and all will be revealed when quigley tackles magee. if magee wins easily then we know a half decent domestic guy (quigley) beat a faded ex top domestic guy (dodson)...

now...if im wrong and quigley wipes the floor with magee, then quigley really does have the potential to go a long way in this game, i like his attitude, his skills and his emotions.

An honest post there Rhino. I am not sure Dodson can be classed as faded - what is he 27 and with not many fights under his belt. However, it must be a concern for his future in the sport if a non puncher like Quigley (who should be a Middleweight) can hurt him repeatedly and win a TKO.

Maybe, as the last poster alluded to, it could be a weight making problem with Tony. I hope this isn't the end of his championship days, it will be a tough road back though. You'd have to favour, not only Quigley, but Magee, MacGuire and a few others now.... Good fight for Cleverley though.

As for Quigley - he doesn't have the frame or power to last long as a Super Middleweight champion. I think Magee will be way to good. Might though be alot stronger at Middleweight.

I don't think he's been buttered up at all fella, he's received praise for beating Quigley but alot of people understand he'll probably struggle vs Magee.

Tony is gunning for a rematch and I personally think he'll get it!! He was winning the fight hands down in my opinion..I think he should have been advised to go on the move in the last round instead of go on the attack!!

Magee is a step too far at the min, He's seasoned and very crude!! also he's a southpaw!! He'd give certain fighters fits!! Literally!! I still think Tony Dodson has plenty to offer I mean he was winning the fight with only 90m seconds to go!! I know it only takes punch to win a fight but it's a hard pill to swallow!!

I just hope to see him back soon!!

I don't - I am willing to bet Hayemaker have "options" on Quigley due to Magee stepping aside due to the injury - and in addition I am willing to bet Brian Magee will fight for the British Super Middleweight Title - then if he wins that he will then have another pop at the European!!!

Quigley is managed by Steve Wood and promoted by Frank Maloney - but to get the shot at the British Title they would have had to relinquish options on Quigley maybe for a fight or 2 - which brings in Brian Magee - and if I am wrong on the Magee side of things you can bet that either Dodson gets a rematch or Quigley will certainly make his first defence on a Hayemaker show.

No mate cant remember one of the names of his training team - but in addition his "manager" Pat Magee was there!!!

Reason why I mention his precence there as significant is why else would he want to be there other than eyeing up his future opponent?

If he had ideas of going elsewhere I cannot understand why he would attend a show he was orignally fighting on - it would be like rubbing salt into the wound - and thus thats why I think Magee is next up - unless of course Dodson gets a rematch which I think he merits it as it was a bloody good close fight!!! - Magee beats either in my view.

What a great fight, for what its worth i had Dodson up going into the last, Quigley belongs at middle though good wee fighter. Does Quigley have to fight Magee within 90 day's?, I think Magee will deal with him without any trouble tbh.

epic fights are so much better when you are not expecting them. dont get me wrong i was looking forward to the fight beforehand but i dont think anyone thought it would be as good as it was. that kind of fight helps to get more people into boxing and more people talking about it.

Both Tony's, Dodson and Quigley are great lads. Two really nice fellas who laid it all out on the line for themselves and their fans.
Both lads sold a terrific amount of tickets and it was a pleasure working with them both on that show.
Of course Dodson is a Hayemaker fighter, but Steve Woods and Tony Quigley were great to work with, attended the press conferences when asked to and worked hard on selling tickets. As its been mentioned before, Quigley is managed by Steve Woods and is Promoted by Frank Maloney with Steve, so it goes to show when the promoters work well together, we get the great fights that excite people again!
As for the fight, what a classic! Was a pleasure to be there.

When did it happen in the fight (what round) what was happening before... was Matthews well on top. It looked a terrible stoppage, but not sure how much he had left judging by the way he went down. It looked out of exhaustion.

Maybe its a little bit of Karma given how many chances he had vs Choi to continue. Matthews has been in two badly officiated fights - one in his favour, one not in his favour.

One thing i have to say......i made it a great fight,i made the fight what it was,quigley had a great 30 seconds in the 12th round and a great 2nd round and weather you like it or not that was it,it was my night and even though iam not champion now it feels like iam,iam hopeing for the return but wether it happens is another thing ?i was part of history in liverpool the other night in a night that will be remembered not for him winning the belt but for the night i was robbed of it maybe robbed myself because it was my own fault i didnt see the round out quigley done what he had to to win .But sh.it happens and iam healthy and fit and willing to do it again and give you guys some more great nights i will be back and i aint going to give up after without doubt one of the greatest performances of my carear that is a statement to how good i have improved since i have gone with hayemaker and ADAM BOOTH see you soon guys ,TONY DODSON

Well done Tony, I thought it was a fairly even fight, but I had you one or two up ahead of the 12th. It was a spirited performance, no question, from both parties and Quigley deserves a lot of respect - he's clearly able to make 160 and was his first journey over 6, he did really well in such a thudding contest.

I hope you carry on and we see more of you.

Nice one Tony, you robbed yourself as you say... although it looked like Quigley hurt you in the 11th, you didn't look badly enough hurt not to last the last 3 minutes. It would have been a FANTASTIC win to comeback from the 2nd round, but can totally understand how the "machismo" of it being a local derby in Liverpool made you want to fight the last round.
