Doug Jones' Ranging Weight
Doug Jones' Ranging Weight
Can you please tell me, what is the range of former Light-Heavyweight and Heavyweight contender Doug Jones' career lowest weight and his career heaviest weight?
Kovit, Jones was a very good fighter who met the best light-heavies and heavies of his day, including a young Ali whom he gave a very hard fight.
Jones begaun his career as Middleweight scaling 162 at his offical lightest... but within abou a year he was scaling around 171 and fighting both Light-heavies and heavies. Through his peak years Jones yo-yoed between about 171-172 to 184.... fighting both Lightheavies and Heavies. After the mid-60s Jones stuck with the Heavies and his weight rose to about 13 and a half stone.... his heaviest weight towards the end of his career was 194 I think. One of Jones best wins is probably his tko of a young Bob Foster who he outweighed by 8 pounds.

That;s one thing that irriates me. Some people who discuss Ali in fantasy matchups mention how a young Ali was troubled by Doug Jones, and since they know nothing about him it sounds like a bad thing. But Jones could trouble ANYBODY. One of the top 20 light HWs of all time, he moved up and fighting in the 180s beat guys much bigger then himself. His Ko of Zora Folley is much more impressive then Jones Jr beating Johnny Ruiz, for example.silkov wrote:Kovit, Jones was a very good fighter who met the best light-heavies and heavies of his day, including a young Ali whom he gave a very hard fight.
