Although it is an exciting part of our great sport, it should be remembered that many great men have been knocked out and never woke up.
My ritual before every fight I ever watch is to say a prayer....in this order..
1) No one gets hurt.
2) My fighter wins.
3) Good even fight.

He an be a right tosser, but he has been good for the past few weeks.

Yeah, the post by itself does not make me think Spud was happy about it. I didn't know about any history between him and Maxwell so it didn't cross my mind.Hagler2002 wrote:Seems to be a few people jumping on Spuds case here, reading his original post I'm a little unsure to why some of you are getting your knickers in a twist!

Asterix - in all honesty we had crossed paths before - however we shook hands and were on speaking terms - I will repeat I have no reason to gloat over Pats loss but at the sametime I have absolutely no reason to take down or change my original post - Pat used to enjoy winding me up on here and I likewise - my original post on this thread was merely stating facts!!!Asterix wrote:Yeah, the post by itself does not make me think Spud was happy about it. All this is about is a number of mindless posters - who look for whatever I write whether that be good or bad and swing it into an argument or some form of "wind up spud" session - boxrec has moved on.

Spud is a valuable member of this forum and has generally been contributing to the site in a civilised manner. I want to see no more anti-spud shit stirring on this forum. Thanks.
Re: Patrick Maxwell - Sparked!!!
i dont know spud and have no knowledge of his previous posts.
wanting a fighter to win is acceptable jeering at a person knocked out isnt.spuds post states he wasnt jeering just stating facts, so i take him at his word.As others know Spud they possibly read a subtext into his comments about patrick and the history between them.
Secondly if you are knocked out you can be completely disorientated and literally not know what has happened, ive seen this in boxing amateur and pro many times, this is obviously what happened to patrick who will obviously be further cringing when he watches the tape of the fight and his protests after!

I'm not a big fan of Spudly or his unfortunate chum Hippo but there is nothing 'gloating' about his post at all.
Those who are claiming that need to read it again and then apologise to Spudly.

Spud done some some really out of order sh*t in the past but it's now time to move on as he seems to want to post good info and not try and wind people up.ERIC GUY wrote:SPUD!!

Boxrec has never been a playground Spud. Its always been the broadsheet to every other beano. Which is why it took eviction or dissension from every other fkking site on god's green earth before you arrived here.
And finally we have a place where you have to keep a decent tone to your posts and behave yourself, its like watching a man wriggle in a straight-jacket.
And respond in all the red fonts you like, I don't give a toss.
However, I don't think you did owt to wrong in your post here, a little bit of a wry grin was detectable but as you rightly comment plenty posted with glee about the downfalls of Audley and Amir.
Both will be remembered as chinny Olympians, regardless of what they achieve next. History can be forgiven but its never forgotten.
There is a lesson there for those who want to use phrases like "moved on" to throw a big convenient blanket over their transgressions in the past.

Terry,
Wasn't J17 a girls magazine from the 80's, replacing Judy or whatever girls mags were called before that.

I see why you have such an affinity with the more deadly species. There is no more prouder moment than when Spud begins an entry with "Your post deserves a response" and I'm sure even when Nigel Short had Gary Kasparov by the short and curlies he never felt as elated as I did when I first cornered Spud and made him resort to the Shift and 8 keys or hover his mouse over the Font Colour palette and ponder whether his incandescent reply merited a Red hue. I wrote to my parents about that one.
As Spud would say "we had a good giggle about all that forum bollacks".

I think it was called Just17 in the 80's but after a revamp they called it J17 in the 90's!DavidPayne wrote:Terry,

Except the forum doesn't print song lyrics to latest tunes from the hit parade.Terry D wrote:Never been 'red and bolded', rarely directed addressed by the man himself, he may well think I'm a nutter, or a student. Maybe one day the time will come, I will brace myself in the meantime. Boxrec is a broad church. Come one, come ye all, which reminds me of my J17 afternoons.
Would probably benefit from it.

Ooh, I've had that too. The implied physical threats that is not the carefree afternoons with Jackie or Magpie magazines. Doubtless all just part of the "forum bollacks".Terry D wrote:Never been 'red and bolded', rarely directed addressed by the man himself, he may well think I'm a nutter, or a student. And he did tell Ricky Hatton he'd predicted he'd get obliterated by Kostya Tszyu so you know, "we had a good chuckle about that one".
I'm always reminded of Spud when I watch the episode of Only Fools and Horses when Rodney dreads another night out with "Miss Anobolic Steroid"
"I couldn't stand another night of, 'so I said to Zola* and Zola said' to me"
*Insert winks as appropriate.

I preferred Smash Hits. They had better free gifts like Bros patches and Brother Beyond badges.
