Charles Whittaker Challenges targets british junior middles

Post by raulinboxing »

WBO rated number 6th junior middleweight Charles Whittaker is challenging all british junior middleweights
Whittaker who is from the Cayman Islands which is also a British Commonwealth and that would allow him to fight for British titles.

It would allow him to fight for the Commonwealth title, but not British title .

But yeah, he certainly could challenge for the commonwealth title.

Who is the current commonwealth champion?-

Oh yeah, Matthew Hall!

I doubt it. You could have said Albert Hall and he'd probably say the same thing.

Anyway, I thought Whittaker was boxing for a world title against Vernon Forrest...or has that fallen through?

The Caymans are actually a British sovereign territory, like the Falklands or Gibraltar, rather than a Commonwealth nation, so he may even be eligible for the British title (although I have no idea about the specific regs tbh).

So you're one of those, 'it doesn't matter who or how good the other guy is, my man will win' type of people ?

Someone connected to Ajose Olusegun does the same on ESB. It always seems to be of fighters with little popularity and chance of actually doing anything.

If anybody is watching this who can sort this out, do so! Hall would never avoid anyone, and would tear him apart within 3 rounds!! Very poor shout from the invisible man!!!!

An addition to the above comment.
I have just looked at whittakers record and he is 35 (old man), lost 12 (which 5 were by KO)! There are no big names on his record and if his chin is questionable, Hall is the last person he should be calling out!

That was due to bad match making. Hall was used to fighting journey men for the 2 fights a year he was getting at the time. He was also out for two years due to incidents outside of the ring. Ring rust and a lack of concentration was what that was. Look how he came back, destroying kerry hope from calzaghes gym and making a commenwealth champion look like he had never boxed in his life when he K.O'ed Bradley Pryce in 2 rounds!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d23TbuYRGeY

You say he would toy with the midget Hall? They still have to weigh the same! Hall would snap Whittaker in half, thats if a gush of wind did not blow him over first!

I'm not Hall's biggest fan but i thought the Concepcion stoppage was very controversial.
Hall was hurt from the knockdowns no doubt but the referee actually waves it off because Hall gets his glove stuck in the rope as he's throwing a shot as it may it look like Hall was hurt again(he wasn't)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vnmU0Xplh3g

I think Hall showed great powers of recovery in that fight, but also shown how he can be hurt.
He's a tremendous puncher but can find himself outboxed at times, but if he catches you and hurts you he'll probably finish you.

Hey we took a fighter with 12 losses and got him world rated and now he can compete with anyone !
We challenged him because we can beat him and we never said he was a bum. I know hall can fight and he can punch
but you know what so can Whittaker.

If you really want the Hall fight or a fight with another high profile British Light-Middleweight maybe you should consider trying to get on the undercard of a televised bill in the UK.

If you're looking to get a fight with Matthew Hall, Ryan Rhodes or Anthony Small, then it would be ideal to get a fight with one of:
Bradley Pryce, Andrew Facey, Gary Woolcombe, Sam Webb, Martin Concepcion, Thomas McDonagh, Jamie Coyle or Marcus Portman.

Facey v Woolcombe and Webb v McDonagh are two fights that are happening btw, but if you could somehow manage to convince a British promoter to put you on an undercard against any of the above it would greatly increase your chances of getting the other 3.
Jamie Moore is completely out of reach.

If not then fighting in the UK at all would help anyway, and it would definitely increase the chances of becoming Commonwealth mandatory.
