If Haye wins his next 3 fights...
Does he become Britains best modern day fighter since Lewis?
Does he surpass Lennox if he manages to beat both the Klits?
I would rank him above both Calzaghe and Hatton if he manages to pull it off, but below Lewis.
Unified Cruiserweight then stepped up and unififed Heavyweight, all in just over 25 fights!
Where would you chaps rank him all time(British wise)if he were to slay the Klit bros then call it a day?

He won't beat Lennox based on that.
The Klitschko's are not as good as the version of Holyfield Lennox beat or considered as dangerous as the version of Ruddock Lennox beat...
Coupled with Lennox's amateur stats and his dominance during his reign Haye has a long way to go!
He needs longevity then he can be judged.
He beats Hatton already in my book based on his attitude and who he fights.. Calzaghe? He has a way to go..

In terms of achievement yeah he goes above Calzaghe and Hatton. But in terms of ability does he fck! Especially Calzaghe.DG. wrote:yiddo14 wrote:Does he become Britains best modern day fighter since Lewis?

Face it - if Haye wins all 3 (which I doubt he will win the first tbh) he will do it by getting beaten up but landing a big KO of his own, or "Hayemaker" if you like.
Don't forget also, Lennox had massive height reach and weight advantages over Haye.
With the possible exception of Naseem Hamed, Calzaghe's the best Britain's produced since probably, Randy Turpin or somebody.
Re: If Haye wins his next 3 fights...
I dunno about that, you have to put it all in relative terms and for a big man Haye has some major speed and skills. You don't see many 200+ pounders with his type of ability.
I don't know where he ranks if he beats both Klits, because he doesn't have any longevity yet. But achievement wise he will have done a lot with so few fights.

I just cannot believe how high Calzaghe in rated by some on here, Haye has achieved more than bith Hatton and Calzaghe already.

Hatton, yes.... Calzaghe?
Calzaghes has beaten the 'Killer' Lacy and also Kessler in addition to cleaning out the UK and some very decent fighters...
RJJ
Hopkins
Woodhall
Eubank
Reid
Veit
Brewer
Sheika
Its not ll crap from JC, but JC could have dome more..
He passed Hatton when he beat Mormeck.....

I think I need to go back take a look at David Haye's resume. I remember him getting KO'd by Thompson, remember him having what turned into a bit of a messy scrap with Fragomeni as David tired a bit in that fight. He got decked heavily against an ageing Mormeck but turned it around. Then he decked Maccarinelli the first time he hit him.
I don't really remember Haye having an epic battle against somebody wh could take a shot, and coming out victorious - like say Hatton's wins over Thaxton and Magee.
As far as the Mormeck fight goes , I don't think Mormeck was better than a lot of the slightly jaded fighters Hatton beat - although the willingness to go to his oppo's backyard has to be respected.
Re: If Haye wins his next 3 fights...
Haye may have been a unified champ, but it's not like he dominated the division for a number of years.DG. wrote:teddy007 wrote:I just cannot believe how high Calzaghe in rated by some on here, Haye has achieved more than bith Hatton and Calzaghe already.

Hatton, on the other hand, has been the no. 1 LWW for a long time and has never been close to losing at that weight.
Haye is a terrific talent, but it's a bit OTT to say that he has already surpassed Hatton.

Judah
Cotto
Witter
Holt
Torres

Haye is past Hatton in my book.
Haye has always sought the toughest challenges... Hatton has not..
Haye has won everything he chased or was offered..

I was always a big critic btu when he found a way to adjust to Kessler and beat him I had to begrudgingly give him his due. Still hate him though! I think he would have been done by a prime B-Hop and A prime RJJ so if Haye does a prime vlad, I'll rank him above Calzaghe easy.
But Wlad is no RJJ or Hopkins..
Wlad is not better than the current version of Hopkins..

Re: If Haye wins his next 3 fights...
Haye already has two wins the equivilant of Calzaghe's wins over Lacy and Kessler.
Mormeck and Maccarinelli are easily on the same level.
Frag is now WBC Cruiser champ in his own right and has proved himself a top level man at the weight, and lets not forget Haye showed courage taking the fight to Mormeck in his own backyard and getting off the floor to poleaxe him in style. No being looked after, fighting on home turf in Haye's case(much like Lennox who fought the best in their backyard)
Would wins over both Klits surpass Joe's wins over a washed up RJJ and the still qualityu Hopkins? In my opinion, yes...can he do it is another matter entirely though!
Lewis is the top dog for me no doubt, only Wilde would rank above him in a British p4p all time list.

Good reasoning, but I think anyone who can defend a title an keep motivated for as long as JC has means he is hard to ignore...
Haye has the attitude of a Lennox Lewis...
Calzaghe also does imo but became complacent.
Hatton does not.....
At the moment out of the fighters mentioned its...
1) Lennox.
2) Calzaghe
3) HAYE
4) Hatton
Haye fights and beats th Klitschko's and then has some dominance then he is 2nd behind Lennox, Lennox is miles ahead really...but Haye would be close because of his mentality and the fact he gives the fans what they want!

Re: If Haye wins his next 3 fights...
I agree with Search.
Especially Sheika is a 27-9 journeyman and never even won a title, so why people regard this as a 'great win' when Mger Mkertian is a better win.
For me its like this, Hopkins made Calzaghe look like a punk for the first half of their fight. Joe landed nothing cleanly or any damaging punches on Bernard whatsover. The post-fight press conference Hopkins told all in attendance that he didnt even have a cut lip, wheras Joe's nose looked broke and his eyes were bruised up.
Nazim Richardson said he never saw one legit shot land on his fighter.
Everyone demanded a rematch... "I dont do rematches" said Calzaghe.
So why did he rematch a guy in Mario Veit who he beat inside 1 round ?
His whole career he took very calculated risks, with everything on his terms.
They went for an old Hopkins and an old Jones. But the gamble nearly backfired with Bernard.
Calzaghe's lacked guts, despite his obvious ability.
They nearly sedated him to get him in the ring against Lacy, Enzo told him to retire in shame if he pulled out - and then look how well he boxed?
A frustrating career for me and it took 11 years to fight a fellow belt holder, which speaks volumes about it all too.
Wheras Haye, well he is talking the talk and walking the walk ! fair play to the man. And with 21KO's from 22 wins he is a bit more exciting too.

A lot of truth in what you say, but he needs a few wins against some good Yanks in my book to cement his status as behind Lennox..
The problem is theere are no good yanks, we all know that Wlad and Vitali are just effective but not 'fighters'!

Hatton is still the pre-eminent 140lber in the world - he has pretty much dominated the division for the last few years.
Haye got beat by Carl Thompson - Hatton lost to Floyd Mayweather.
Compare and contrast.

I love British fighters even if I am Canadian. But I find it insulting for other fighters when Calzaghe is consider so great, when he barely left the UK in search for fights in the last years of his career. That is not the behaviour of a champ, certainly not one that is so highly rated by knowledgeable boxing fans like us on BoxRec.
As for the original post. Even if he beats the K brothers (which he won't) that would not surpass Lennox.
Re: If Haye wins his next 3 fights...
If Haye manages to KO Wlad twice and KO Vitaly properly (not on cuts) then I would rate him just above Lewis, and well above Calzaghe and Hatton, unless Hatton beats Pacman and either PBF, Cotto/Clottey winner or Mosley.
It is a pointless suggestion though, as Haye has only a VERY slim chance of beating Wlad, and ZERO chance of beating Vitaly IMO.

Above Lewis?
Lennox has beaten....
Holyfield
Tyson
Vitali
Ruddock
Briggs
Golata
Tua
Akinwande
Mccall
Rahman
Bruno
Mercer
Tucker
Grant
Biggs
Morrison
Weaver
Mavrovic
Mason
Olympic Gold Medalist
British
Commonwealth
European
World Champion who has beaten evry man he ever faced?
Held a World title or 10 years with 2 losses and avenged them both?
Lennox will take much more than someone beating Wlad to be above him, Lennox already beat Vitali....

I wouldn't class the following names as comparably good to beating a Klitschko:
Ruddock
Briggs
Golata
Tua
Akinwande
Mccall
Rahman
Bruno
Mercer
Tucker
Grant
Biggs
Morrison
Weaver
Mavrovic
Mason
and even combined I wouldn't class them as being as good as beating the Klitschkos 3 times. They are mostly good fighters, but none are all time top 20 HWs like the Klitschkos are. Tyson was a spent force when they met, and Holyfield was well past his peak too.

Kltischko ALL TIME GREAT Hws?

Klitschko/s are not that good...seriously...
