What the Froch does he know about boxing?

What the Froch does he know about boxing?

If anyone else (aside from allegedly) needs convincing just how good Carl Froch is have a look at this! It’s Jean Pascal’s return to action at the weekend against former World title challenger, Pablo Nievas.

Pascal was involved in a 2008 Fight of the Year candidate with Carl Froch with the Nottingham man claiming the WBC Super Middleweight title after a sensational win over the then unbeaten Pascal.

Pascal made his ring return this past weekend in Canada with this frightening KO over an opponent who had previously lost on points in a bid for Anthony Mundine’s WBA World title.

Watch the KO here: http://www.livefight.com/news/video-jea ... o_832.html

Yep thats a good KO,Nievas got too close there and left himself very exposed, but it was a wicked left hook by Pascal, suckered him in there.

Pascal has under-rated power I think he really surprised Froch with his power. Good job Froch has one of the best chins in the business but he relies on that a bit too much at the mo, needs to tighten the 'ol defence up.

Carl is a fringe world class belt holder promoted by a guy out of his class who employs idiots as publicists.

I can see what ppl mean when they say British fans try to rip down British fighters.

Froch could be on the cusp of something big, and I can't wait to see the turnaround if he beats Taylor.

I honestly believe you are wrong mate - as much as I love to criticise "Meaty Mick" to wind him up - he is in my humble opinion a very good promoter!! - politics and more politics gets in the way and I have to say the way he built up Froch from the very beginning of his career is impressive - as for Froch said for a long time he will prove he is a top notch world class fighter.

He has not built Froch up impressively because it took him so long to arrange a shot, furthermore being able to navigate the minefield of boxing politics is his job and he has not done it well

think this is a bit of an over statement. I didn't have the best view of Froch Pascal at the time but that 1st left did the damage. It was a fight ender.

sorry mate - have to disagree - go to boxrec's records - look up Joe Calzaghe it was 6 years before Joe got his chance against Eubank and lets face it - Eubank was expected to win that one!!!

Then look at Froch similar in time - and Froch on the whole has gone the traditional route and I would argue has been matched quite impressively at the right times.

Hennessy has done a good job with Froch - he has made mistakes but hey what promoter doesn't.

A big difference is that Froch should of been on the fasttrack as he turned pro later and already had a bronze in the world championships.
Calzaghe on the other had stagnated under Mickey Duff as by that time he was able to secure tv dates either.
Nevertheless it was 4 years(not 6) from his debut when he won the title and in his first fight when FW was his manager(the previous 3 fights were on SN shows, but JC was waiting untill his contract with Duff had expired)

Yep excellent point - but like you all Froch has also had career lulls due to injury and waiting for his chance at especially the British Title.

Hey mate I thought I would try it on!!!

Totally true. But considering how arrogant he is I doubt he thinks he needs to improve his defense. No doubt he will lose the belt very soon because of his lack of D. In fact Jermain Taylor may do it.

Couldn't it be argued, that it would take Froch longer to adjust cause he was older turning pro... harder to cut out the bad habits and also had more fights under the computer scoring system - which is a completely different sport.

I didn't know that about Joe and FW and the promotional/management deal. I always assumed it occured ahead of his first fight under SN (against Carlos Christie). I remember FW talking after Benn vs Collins 2 saying "he's signed Joe" (well I have it on tape) - but I trust your better knowledge on this, especially as Joe was talking about management problems and needing a change in the same interview.

How easy was it to build a Brit to world level on Sky?

Didn't Sky want solid domestic and Euro battles in the post Warren/WBU/WBO mismatches era?

Surely Froch had to go into fights with the likes of Dodson, Magee, Tatevosyan. The Dodson and Magee fights took seemingly forever to put on, on and off fights.

When the opponent wasn't injured, it seemed that Froch was. So naturally it has taken a long time.

Have to say I'm sick of reading many of these bitchy comments on here. In his first defence Froch is taking his title abroad, to fight a top contender with a big name, and there's still something to piss and moan about.

Froch just has to back up all the big talk. He absolutely must do this.
