Wlad Vs Haye, what do you see happening in this fight!

Post by Eric t »

Haye reckons he will shove wlads jab up his butt, i think he might be in for a surprise if it lands, chris bird said it feels like a power shot.
Haye has good evasive skills but he gets reckless over excited at times, i can see him getting clipped with the jab or left hook or right hand, if he circles to the right of wlad to avoid the jab then he is in danger of getting hit with the right, i expect haye to stay on the outside out of range and counter wlad or come in fast with flurries when he thinks wlad won't expect it.
I can see how they both can win, it's a dangerous fight for both of them, this is going to be a good fight, haye fights like a hungry fighter, wlad needs to be fighting guys like haye to get respect, haye is probably isn't a much stronger puncher than brewster and petter but is more dangerous because his speed and sneakiness and hunger, as a wlad fan i'm a bit freakin nervous.

Haye counters a flicking Wlad jab and lands ONCE and Wlad goes down only to get up and be knocked down again....

Its over..

Round 2!

Vitali tries to attack Haye and gets jumped..

I genuinly don't know... I don't think Haye could win a decision, so he's either got to find that punch, or be on the end of one.

I can see how he'd win.... and give him a genuine chance, but I can't see how he survives if Wlad lands flush.

Such a great fight, this one...

This will not go to the cards - stoppage either way.

I think Wlad will be nervous about Haye landing and will be ultra cautious, staying on the back foot and only occasionaly throwing his jab to try and keep haye at range. This will be effective for a while as haye struggles to get in close and land his right hand whilst probably having a few hairy moments when he feels the force of Wlads jab.

However there will come a time when Haye does get in close enough and will land and I just cant see Wlad reacting well. He will either go into a shell and try and cover up as much as possible or try and hit back hard himself, leaving his chin wide open.

I think this will last 4-5 round, Im going for Haye but if Wlad lands big at all then Haye will go down.

Why oh why couldn't have Haye have just been born with a good chin? I kept hoping that his apparent fragility was the result of drying out to make cruiser but then came what appeared to be an innocuous tap from Monte Barret and down he goes again!

The only chink of light comes from Danny Williams who said that Haye took plenty of decent shots during sparring without going anywhere.

If it wasn't for this one single flaw, I would bet my house on a mid round stoppage for Haye.

I think you analysis is the most logical one.

I would just like to add that all boxing fights are dangerous at HW level. A lucky punch can knock most HW down and thats that (well except a limited few that can handle quite a lot of damage on the chin before they bite the dust).

I think that Haye will be very different from what he saw of him in CW. He will be told by his coach to respect Wlad, since his losses he has CONSIDERABLY improved his evasive skills.

My long term prediction with little explanation

Haye knocks out Wlad, then gets worn down and stopped by Vitali, but wins the support of many doubtful Americans and becomes a more household name outside the UK, because people appreciate the excitment he brings to a boring division. He then becomes the biggest name and leading man in the HW division when Vitali retires in the near future, but gets stopped and works his way back up. He then retires after 30, maybe around 33-35 after being stopped another time and is always remembered for his trash talking and exciting fights.

Haye wins by KO in first 3 rounds. I think hes too fast for Vlad and definitely has the power to win. Haye is also hungrier and more willing to put it on the line, Vlad is very safety first.

Wlad using his strength and advantages well to KO Haye at around the round 4-6 mark.

I think there will be so much mutual respect that it won't end very early.

But not at all confident with the Pick... Haye has the power and speed.

It will be interesting to see if wlad can deal with pressure these days, when brewster and saunders jumped on him he had no answers, i'm expecting haye to jump on him unless wlad gets his respect, his brother deals with it very well, but he use to be a kickboxer, that's probably why, kickboxers often jump on each other because there is only 5 x 3 minute rounds. I think wlads chins a bit better than people think, he gets up when he gets dropped, saunders dropped him 3 times.

You could be right there, I'd class Sanders as having one of the hardest left hooks we've seen in a long time. I doubt DH hits as hard as that somehow, we've yet to see if he has the punch to trouble a really big, good heavyweight.
Wlad doesn't like pressure, but Haye is going to have big trouble applying any real physical pressure to Wlad, because he needs to guard that chin with his life. His best chance is a sudden bomb from nowhere, landing perfectly - and you might call that a long shot.

I reckon DH is going to get a massive shock when Wlad lands - I'd back Wlad to win this early.

No you wouldn't think so, not this soon, at the moment he probably hits just a bit harder than he did at cruiserweight, a bit harder because the extra weight, he has to turn the strength from the extra muscle into explossive power, it will take time.

I can see Haye starting the same as he has in all of his fights - taking centre of the ring but not pressing, using subtle head movement and picking his shots, looking for that big right hand.

Someone else said in another thread that if Klit establishes his jab early, it's over. I agree, but the more I think about it the more I think the difference in speed could be huge - Haye is going to look like lightning in there and I just think it may be key in him getting his shots off first. When was the last time Wlad had a lethal, live challenger in front of him? Most of his last few have been bored, fat, light hitters, or all 3.

In any case, I'm betting on the under 4 rounds or something similar if I can get it, just can't deal with Haye losing plus losing money, or winning money on WLad but Haye losing. I don't hold much hope on the odds to not last the distance being good - if I can get 1/3 or better I'm all over it but that price may be a little optimistic...

I can envisage Haye circling Wladimir, forcing Wlad to come forward and reach with punches. Then, once he has his timing and distance he could lock on with his right-hand and clock a leaning back Wladimir. He'll need to aim for Wlad's chest as opposed to his chin, as when Wlad leans back a punch directed at the chin will fall short. But Wlad is pretty fast for such a big guy and could time Haye with a right-hand or left hook as Haye comes in for a guerilla raid. One thing I have noticed is that Haye's style seems to fare well against the stand-up, european style of boxing ( Gurov, Johansen, Enzo Macc) - obviously Wlad is bigger and better than any of these guys but its something that goes in Haye's favour. Its the short, tough come forward sort that give him problems - I think a prime David Tua would have been his worst nightmare.
Again as previously mentioned, its just the chin thing that lets him down. Realistically, its anyone's game as they are both so vunerable but I'll go for Haye to be quicker on the draw and knock-out Wlad early, bearing in mind Wlad seldom lets a right-hand go until at least round four.

It can be done both ways, depending on where you are in Europe.

I hate when anglophones do that. Every time I go to the UK or the USA they always feel a need to modify the manner in which they say my name. Even really educated people do it.
