Vince Shomo of NYC won more than 550 amateur fights
a fighter by the name of vince shomo is reported to have won almost 600 fights in the 1950's and '60's. he was only a marginal pro 13wins 10 losses.
not supprised, with that many fights under his belt even in amateurs,
you take alot of punches, he was proubly punched out,
even david reid, an extremly talented boxer had alot of amateur bouts peaked early, say what you will about trinidad taking it out of reid but
i believe, if not tito, it would have been someone else to ruin reid,
he was just punched out......too bad sad story....
looking back at some of my spelling,
im wondering if i took too many????

It is not unusual for fighters who had several hundred amateur fights to have short and often disapointing pro careers. Most people were expecting more from say, Johnny Bumphus (400+ am. fights) and Tyrone Trice (299-25), not to mention Cubans Jorge Luis Gonzalez and Ramon Garbey. Many of them are nearly shot when they finally turn pro.
