An alphabet world title, which is worthless. There can only be one Champion of the World at any weight, and at LWW, that is Ricky Hatton.sg1985 wrote:so what? khan will hold a world title therefore he is a world champion. don't give me all this linear stuff. a title belt makes you a world champion, doesn't make you the best world champion at that weight, but you are still a world champion.hitman09 wrote: He will not be a real world champion if he beats Kotelnik. if khan wins this WBA title

Re: if khan wins this WBA title
I would expect statements like that from nobody but casual fans and Khan nuthuggers. Kotelnik is not a world champion, and never has been.sg1985 wrote: amir khan will be a world champion if he beats kotelnik. fact
Re: if khan wins this WBA title
To be a world champion, you must beat a world champion, and Kotelnik never has been and never will be a world champion.sg1985 wrote:nuthugger? who talks like that?]hitman09 wrote:I would expect statements like that from nobody but casual fans and Khan nuthuggers.sg1985 wrote: amir khan will be a world champion if he beats kotelnik. fact
but the statement is in actuality a fact. whether you like it or not amir khan would be a world champion.
Re: if khan wins this WBA title
Both of you are right.
Re: if khan wins this WBA title
Kotelnik holds an alphabet title, therefore he is an alphabet title holder, and nothing more. If he loses said belt to Khan, Khan becomes an alphabet title holder, and nothing more, do you understand?sg1985 wrote:kotelnik holds a world title. therefore he is a world champion. if he loses said belt to khan, khan becomes a world champion. do you understand?

Do you count WBF and WBU beltholders as world champions too?sg1985 wrote:still an alphabet world title kidda.hitman09 wrote:Kotelnik holds an alphabet title, therefore he is an alphabet title holder, and nothing more. If Khan beats Kotelnik he will be A World champion, but Ricky Hatton is currently THE World champion.
Re: if khan wins this WBA title
p.s. The WBA suck donkey balls.

Rather unusual talk from you.

A more accurate statement would beAsterix wrote:If Khan beats Kotelnik he will be A World champion, but Ricky Hatton is currently THE World champion.
If Khan beats Kotelnik he will be A "World champion", but Ricky Hatton is currently THE World champion.

I concur with that.Asterix wrote:p.s. The WBA suck donkey balls.

It's tough being a boxing fan and having a group that give out recognised World titles who decide to have 3 champions in one division. I think we're going to have to keep our own list of World champions. Real World champions (1 per weight class).
Re: if khan wins this WBA title
The inverted commas imply that the title is false.sg1985 wrote:hitman09 wrote:A more accurate statement would beAsterix wrote:If Khan beats Kotelnik he will be A World champion, but Ricky Hatton is currently THE World champion.

No he is not.hitman09 wrote:Yes. Whether or not you think he is the best LWW is a different matter, but he is world champion.DG. wrote:No he is not.hitman09 wrote:He will not be a real world champion if he beats Kotelnik. The real world champion at LWW is Ricky Hatton.
Based on what? KT 77 years ago?
Bradley is more of a champion than Hatton.
Hatton can not feast on the bones of KT forever!
Hatton NEVER faces the hungry skilled guys with a punch.
NEVER!
Bradley is a bit raw but Hatton will never fight him.

He has not lost the title which he won against Kostya Tszyu, therefore he remains world champion.DG. wrote:No he is not.hitman09 wrote: Yes. Whether or not you think he is the best LWW is a different matter, but he is world champion.

He will be a WBA champion, and an ordinary one at that.sg1985 wrote:kotelnik holds a world title. therefore he is a world champion. if he loses said belt to khan, khan becomes a world champion. do you understand?
Are you trying to tell me that anyone who holds any kind of belt which has 'world' in the title is a genuine world champion?
Or are you playing some kind of immature semantic game?
If so, I'll bet you that I'll be a world champion by tomorrow afternoon. I'll PM you the fecking evidence on a letterhead. Will take me five minutes. When I get round to it.
In fact, I'll get Irish correspondent for BBN and monitor of all shite boards to lend me his.
By the way, this doesn't mean I think Hitman is right either.

Re: if khan wins this WBA title
I think there have been some very good arguments from both sides here, but I'm sure that if Khan were to anounce a fight against JMM that a lot of ppl would claim he is looking to beat the smaller man.
Whatever Khan does, there seems to be a brigade of people ready to pounce on it and twist it into looking like the easiest, most risk free route to a world title.
I think Khan is a fantastic talent and would love to see him do well for the sake of British boxing. This may be a relatively easy route to a world title, but we are all informed enough on here to realise that a victory against Kotelnik will not make him a respected, bonafide world champion. Khan himself will also be aware of this.
