Will Calzaghe come back to fight Froch later this year?

Post by FLINT ISLAND »

If Froch beats Taylor and lands himself a big Amercian win on his 1st defence he will come back to Britain as a WBC Super Middleweight Champion and British Boxing Hero.

He still wants Calzaghe.

Calzaghe might be taking it easy and sitting on the sidelines.

Froch might once again call him out and goad him that he just defended his WBO title in Caridff against bums.

Calzaghe might become bitter and angry and may summon up once last desire to fight

a British showdown

Calzaghe V Froch

could it happen?

JC will only come back for big bucks, there is no suggestion Hennesssy is capable of generating such money

Unlikely because

1) JC is retired and it will require a large amount of money(Joe could fight Roy again and get more than he would fighting Froch)

2) Nobody knows who Froch is at the moment and it will likely remain the same because it doesn't look like many will be watching the Taylor fight at stupid o'clock in the morning.

3) Joe isn't a super middle anymore.

Best thing Froch can do is forget about Calzaghe, blank him out of his mind and focus on unifying the super middleweight division, if he can do that in the next 18-24 months then he would have achieved what JC took 10 years to achieve.

I am sure Kessler will move up to Lt heavy within the next 12 months so FROCH can take over after he smashed Taylor.

JC is not coming back!

Surely, it is more about Froch generating money than Hennessy.

I'd prefer Calzaghe to come back to fight Dawson and Erdei, but this would do.

I don't think calzaghe gives a crap about froch, nothing has impressed me about froch, he has a good punch, that's the only thing good about him, his style looks like a club fighters.
I think calzaghe is sick of boxing, he has never liked it that much, it is just a business to him i think.
He doesn't need to fight for money, he has enough and wants to become a promotor so not much chance, maybe if froch ticks him off he will, he should say something about him getting bullied at school, calzaghe seems to have some unforgiveness in his heart, that will be pretty low but if he really wants a fight with him making his blood boil might be the only way to get him in the ring, it's not exactly a angel he's saying it to anyway, we all know calzaghe is cocky and arrogant.

I think Froch has got under Calzaghe's skin. Joe cannot get away from Froch. When he opens a newspaper he sees his face there, and for ages people have been approaching him in Newport asking him to shut Froch up. Locals also keep asking him if he's bored - they expect him to want to fight again and that puts pressure on him. I'm not saying he will, but I'd be surprised if he didn't hear a niggling voice in his head, telling him to rise to the challenge. If Froch beats Taylor, as I expect him to, he will become a big noise in world boxing, regardless of whether the fight is televised in Britain or not (it probably will be). Froch will have plenty of other big fights to look forward to. But if Calzaghe hasn't found a life for himself post boxing, he might be tempted back.

Froch would need to beat everyone from Winky Wright through Hopkins, Tarver, Kessler, Woods, Jones, Adamek, Cunningham and Valuev to tempt Calzaghe.

I dont think it will happen he has more to lose than he has to win and i think if they did fight Calzaghe would destroy him for 12 rounds and win a clean sweep UD

I'd say it's the other way round, Froch can't get JC out of his head, he's infatuated with him, talks about him all the time. I bet Joe doesn't pay much attention at all to Froch's rants.

I don't agree. I never got excited when Woods v Calzaghe was mentioned a while back, it would have ended in a boring, predictable points win for JC. And i think if he was to meet Froch, Woods would do well to make it to round 8 or 9.
